Hello, name here is Jim and I have a bunch of hobbies, Ham Radio being my main one with the call sign of AC5ED.
Some of my equipment being used is a Kenwood TS690SAT HF rig 6-meters through 160-meters with 100 watts output
into a MFJ-1798 multi-band vertical 2,6,10,12,15,17,20,30,40,80 meters. Vhf is a Yaesu FT-2400 50 watts output
into a Ringo-Ranger up about 30 feet. Also Run Packet from time to time using AEA model PK-232MBX multi-mode
controller. For anyone who does not know, a multi-mode controller is like your modem except you use a antenna
instead of the phone line, and it has several different modes, Packet, rtty, amtor, pactor, navtex, cw, and
kiss, (Keep It Simple Stupid);) and a built in mailbox for messages to name some of its uses. I also run mobil
in my truck, using a Yaesu FT-900sat, 100 watt output with a Ameritron ALS-500M amplifier 500 watts output into
a homemade screwdriver antenna, also have a Tri-bander Kenwood TS-742 with 2-meters, 70-centimeters, and 6-meters
all 50 watts output into triband antenna. Some other parts of the hobby is ATV witch includes Slow scan TV (still
pictures), Fast scan TV (just like what you see on regular TV), Satellite, and moon bounce (bouncing your signal
off the moon to talk to someone else in a different part of the county, Just to name a few of the different aspects
of this hobby. Other hobbies include Astronomy, Camping and hiking, Metal detecting, photography and of course,
computers. I live in Ennis, Texas.
