Updated 5/25..... The Browns have been calm and quiet after the 'rush' of free agent signings over the past couple of months. The Browns have been able to land some very good talent that had changed the entire look of this 'expansion team'. Well folks, an expansion team this will not be. The Browns have brought in some experienced pros that definitely will make the Browns very competitive this upcoming season.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Browns have brought in defensive tackles Jerry Ball and John Jurkovic. In addition to those key signings, the Browns have added possible all-pro linebacker Jamir Miller and former first round draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings Derrick Alexander. On draft day the Browns traded a fourth round draft selection in acquiring fullback Marc Edwards from San Francisco.

The Browns draft was rated as excellent by the so-called experts throughout the country. The Browns negotiated a deal with the first selection prior to the draft, that player is quarterback Tim Couch from the University of Kentucky. Couch was the highest rated quarterback available and with the Browns looking to the future selected the promising Couch. The Browns proceeded to select wide receiver Kevin Johnson with their first selection of the second round. Johnson is a speedy wide-out that has good hands. He has displayed game breaking ability and should crack the Browns starting line-up early in this, his rookie season. The Browns were surprised to find a pass rushing linebacker available with their second selection in the second round, especially one named Rahim Abdullah. Abdullah stands 6'6 and weighs 240lbs, he is underclassman that came out of Clemson early to find the riches of the NFL. The Browns were pleasantly surprised to find him still on the board and wasted no time in selecting him. In Couch, Johnson, and Abdullah the Browns have obtained three players that have been named to have first round potential or talent. Time will tell, but on paper this looks like a tremendous run by the Browns.

NFL releases schedule, Browns open with Steelers at the new stadium

4/1....The Browns will play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night September 12th, in Cleveland. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN.

Browns to work out Couch again

3/30.... The Browns have requested that University of Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch workout for the team again. The Browns were impressed with his initial workout in early March, but that workout was conducted for all NFL teams and was short in nature. Browns head coach Chris Palmer will be conducting the workout this time around and the Browns hope to have their questions answered.

Browns sign Free Agent defensive tackle Jurkovic, add a kicker, too

3/25.... After approximately 3 weeks of inactivity the Browns have signed a bonefide run-stopper and even brought in a kicker. With today's signing of former Jacksonville defensive tackle John Jurkovic, the Browns have addressed and significally improved their defensive line. In other news today, the Browns signed placekicker Phil Dawson, off the Patriots practice roster. Dawson a rookie out of Texas has a strong leg and has been given the opportunity to impress the Browns coaching staff.
