"Bailey"

Harken Little Drummer

Pack Hound First Class
02/10/87 - 10/08/02
Bred by G Hartley

When we picked up a little beagle from the Invercargill Airport in December 1987 little did we realise what it would lead us on to. Bought as a pet, Bailey quickly established himself as an essential part of our lives. We initially undertook obedience with him but he had an avid dislike of retrieving and we were unable to proceed further with him. Persuaded by our local hydatids officer, we took Bailey to our first ribbon parade where he came Reserve on Parade and from then on we were hooked on showing.

Bailey's show career was like his obedience one - brief but he will be always special for the things he brought in to our lives and for what he introduced us to.

Sadly we only recently had to make that difficult decision and Bailey died in Bill's arms on a sunny Saturday morning recently. It seems we can still hear him and sometimes it like he just there - just past your point of vision. Back in 1987 he was the most beautiful beagle (actually the only one) we had ever seen and that memory will never tarnish and his place in our hearts will always be.

Bailey was a 16" standard tricolour beagle and in his heyday had the biggest and blackest saddle we have ever seen on a beagle. Not the best of pack hounds, Bailey enjoyed the times out with the Christchurch beagle pack, in his latter years he was usually kept on a lead due to his failing sight and hearing.

"Tasha"

Ch. Houndale Cracklin Rosie
Pack Hound First Class
DOB 10/03/95.

Tasha was purchased to be our foundation brood bitch as well as a show dog. Unfortunately difficulties breeding meant that she had only two litters and was rehomed at five years of age. She now enjoys a life of warm fires/days and long walks in the High Country town of Omarama and is loved by her new humans and cat alike and in high summer can be found in the jet boat helping her humans water ski.

Tasha was a standard tricolour beagle standing just on 15" tall.

Tasha enjoyed the hunt season immensely and was chosen "Best Hunting Beagle of the Day" by a visiting beagle specialist in her last season with the Christchurch pack.

"Tanna"

Aust and NZ Ch Timbavati Cinnaman
DOB
11/04/98

Tanna returned back to Auckland in September 2003 after a very successful stay with us that included many Group level wins at All Breeds shows including several Best of Groups. It was sad to hand him back to his owners but his stay in the South lives on in his son "Jake".

Tanna was on loan to us for several months from his owners, Alec and Jan Newton and was an interesting addition to our beagle household.

Very similar to Ralph in height, Tanna is a tan and white beagle, a colour rarely campaigned in New Zealand and especially in the South Island and we are looking forward to showing this outgoing little beagle.

Tanna went Reserve Best in Show, Best Dog and Open In Show at the South Island Beagle Club Championship Show on May 24th, 2003, under J. Jeff a Beagle Specialist.

"Lina"

Bairal One Good Reason
DOB 30/04/02

After a successful start to her show career, it quickly became obvious that Lina was neither a good show dog nor had promise as a brood bitch. With limited space available on our property we had to make the decision to place Lina in another home. She has found a fabulous home with two adult humans, two children human and two Saint Bernards (tri colours of course) and a "tri colour" cat. She is very happy and very well looked after in her new home. Many thanks Emma, Brendan and boys.
At the Otago Southland Hound Club Show she went Baby Puppy In Show (Judge: A Lane (Aust) September 2002). Lina has also gone onto win Puppy In Show at the SIHC Championship Show in November 2002 (Judge: J McErlane (Aust)).

While her height is still uncertain Lina is a very standard tricolour beagle with a very black saddle.

Lina went Best Baby Puppy of Breed at the National Dog Show held in Wellington over the 26th - 28th September, 2002.

On May 24, 2003 Lina went Reserve Bitch and Junior In Show at the South Island Beagle Club Championship Show under J.Jeff a Beagle Specialist.

On June 14, 2003 she again took out Reserve Bitch and Junior In Show at the Auckland Beagle Club Championship Show, under G Johnston.
