Welcome to the Tom Barrasso Homepage!

This is a temporary place until I get a better storage for pictures and html files.

On this page will be current season stats, rankings; career stats, rankings, pictures, a Message Board, and more!

If you're a fan of the Penguins and have seen him in 97-98 form, you'll say wow! He is on top of his game. This season he collected his 300th win, becoming the first American-born goaltender to reach this plateau.

Pens' Barrasso is Player of the Week

NEW YORK (February 2, 1998) - Pittsburgh Penguins
goaltender Tom Barrasso has been named the NHL Player of
the Week for the period ending Feb. 1. Barrasso posted a
3-0-1 record, 1.96 goals-against average and .942 save
percentage as the Penguins extended their unbeaten streak
to seven games and increased their lead in the Northeast
Division to five points.

Barrasso edged Mighty Ducks of Anaheim right wing
Teemu Selanne (3-4-7 in three games), Phoenix Coyotes
defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky (3-4-7 in four games) and
Florida Panthers goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck (3-1-0, 1.51
goals-against average, two shutouts) for the award.

The Pittsburgh netminder allowed two goals in each of his four
games played for the week, beginning with a 27-save performance in
a 4-2 home win over the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 26. He turned aside
24 shots in a 2-2 tie at Washington on Jan. 28 and made 29 saves in
a 4-2 road win over the Boston Bruins on Jan. 29. Hosting the
Detroit Red Wings on Jan. 31, Barrasso made 51 saves, tied for the
highest single-game total by a goaltender this season, as the
Penguins defeated Detroit 4-2.

The 32-year-old Boston native has enjoyed an outstanding
comeback season after being limited to five appearances in 1996-97
due to a recurring shoulder injury. In 43 games this season Barrasso
 has posted a 23-9-8 record, 2.04 goals-against average and .923 save
percentage while recording six shutouts. He ranks among the top four
goaltenders in wins (third place tie), goals-against average (fourth)
, save percentage (second) and shutouts (third).

Playing in his 15th NHL season, his 10th in a Penguins uniform,
Barrasso has 318 career regular season wins, making him one of six
active goaltenders with 300-or-more wins. The others are St. Louis'
Grant Fuhr (375), Colorado's Patrick Roy (370), Montreal's Andy Moog
 (369), San Jose's Mike Vernon (318) and Florida's Vanbiesbrouck
 (304).

This marks Barrasso's fourth career NHL Player of the Week Award
and first since November of 1992. He first captured the award as a
member of the Buffalo Sabres in January 1983, his rookie season in
 the NHL.
