John Henry Ralph Brooks
Status: Body Not Recovered (MIA) from an incident on 05/13/1969 while performing the duty of Crew Chief.
Declared dead on 02/11/1974.
Rank/Branch SP4/U.S.Army
Unit: 129th AHC, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade

I met John in April I think. I had only been the unit about a month, he was kinda quiet as I remember, but he was a hard worker, he would help when he could to get his bird ready to fly again. 100 hour inspections were lengthy and it took a while to get everything done. if John wasn't helping another C/E with his bird, or filling in on another flight crew because some one needed/wanted time off for a day, you could count on him being in your way while you were trying to fix his bird. but he helped more than he was in your way. he was there for two reasons; 1 he wanted his bird back on the flightline and not in the hanger, and 2 he was making sure we fixed it right /or/ he wanted to learn more about the way it worked. ( ok maybe that's 3 reasons, kinda ) but I do know he wanted to do the best job he could. and from what I saw he did a fine job.

I miss john !
