ha: arching, more drooping leaves are more dramatic in effect

fq: not always floriferous as species. G.S. Thomas says "sparingly produced".
ns: variable entity and best treated as a cultivar group. It comes partly true from

Acanthus spinosus 'Lady Moore'

ht: 50-100cm - reports vary widely
lc: dark green heavily spotted white in spring. Not as showy later in summer.
fc: dusky purple and white - better than some species examples.

Acanthus spinosus 'Royal Haughty'

ls: more highly incised
lc: more highly mottled than species typical

ha: G.S. Thomas says it best: "an established clump of this looks like a grey and

lm: blade with longer spinose teeth, appearly more deeply cut. The teeth appear

infl: inflorescence leafy bracts are also have prolonged spinosity.
ns: variable and best considered as a group rather than a clone. Some plants of this name
ns: may be hybrids to A. mollis and would require a new, separate name. 'Summer Beauty' is
ns: one good clone of this sort that is almost surely an interspecific hybrid.
