I've been a Hartford Whalers fan for a while now, and though I live in New Jersey, I chose to support a team who had real roots in a hockey city. Sure New York has it's baseball, its basketball, and its football but when it comes to hockey, they just can't compare to New England. I bled green just like all the fans at that last game versus Tampa Bay, I tried to get up to as many games as possible to see my team. A 2 1/2 hour drive each way...and every game was worth it...Every one! I cursed Pete Karabastard out as well as the state of Connecticuit for not trying hard enough to keep the team in Hartford. I seem to recall a certain New Jersey team who seem headed for Nashville for sure yet because of the tremendous pressure of the fans and intervention by Gov. Whitman (about the only good thing she actually did for this state), the team stayed. I look at the cities where hockey should be in North America...Quebec, Winnipeg, Minneapolis, and now Hartford, but I see nothing and it really is a shame....Gary Bettman, WAKE UP! Bring hockey back to where it belongs...It is my personal opinion that the NHL doesn't belong any further South than Washington DC. I'm sorry to say that they just don't appreciate it as much as people in the midwest, the northeast and especialy Canada. Those are my two cents....tell me yours...Sign the guest book below.
