Spaceman Spiff is an imaginary hero of Calvin, by Bill Watterson. He created the Calvin & Hobbes strip.

I've partly modeled and painted this Spiff for one of Bart's graduate mentors, Klaas Jan de Kraker, for attaining his PhD degree. Bart did the most; he made Spiff look real fierce!
His PhD thesis is about feature conversion for concurrent engineering, and he and Maurice made a prototype multiple feature-view modeling system called Spiff. Spiff stands for System for Product modeling by Interaction on Form Features, but the name appears to have a secret relation with the famous Spaceman Spiff, interplanetary explorer extraordinaire, hence this model.

Spaceman Spiff is modeled over an iron wire skeleton with aluminium foil. He stands on a feature model with a piece of styrofoam as a base.
