Rising high above the corner of Michigan Ave. and Washington Blvd in Detroit is the once mighty Book-Cadillac Hotel. Erected in 1924, this collosal structure once sported 1200 hotel rooms and grand interiors for its guests to lavish in. However, several ownership changes, god-awful remodelings, and years of abandonment have taken thier toll on this once grand jewel of Detroit's former downtown.

In September of 1999, I was fortunate enough to be able to get inside the Book-Cadillac on two occasions. I wandered around in awe of what I saw. I managed to see the interior as it stood then, and on this page I have put up some highlights of the building. Please not that the photos inside this page were done with a video camera and vidcap device and do not do justice to the enormity and eeriness of some of the spaces of this building.

Recent Updates

3-13-02 Completely redoing the BC page. Things I will be doing include: Changing layout to frames, major cosmetic changes, brightened lots of the pictures so you can see them, minor content changes, and including a FAQ page. For the next day or two things may be a bit messed up, so if you see links or pictures that don't work, old pages mixed in with the new, etc, it will be fixed soon.
