Ordered in 1758, the same year as Lord Nelson's birth, HMS Victory  took 27 miles of rigging, four acres of sails and six years to build. The excellent design, her speed and manoeuvrability, meant that she was in constant demand during her period of active service between 1778 and 1812.

Today HMS Victory is the oldest commissioned warship in the world and on-going restoration work aims to return her to her Trafalgar condition by the year 2005.

Guided tours around the ship vividly recreate life at sea for the 850 men and boys who lived, worked, fought and died in Victory during battle. From the opulence of Hardy's cabin to the cramped gun decks, from the gloom of the surgeon's dispensary to the cockpit where Nelson spent his final hours experience for yourself the history of the most famous warship the world has ever seen.

The Mary Rose
The Mary Rose is the only 16th century warship on display anywhere in the world. Built between 1509 and 1511, she was one of the first ships able to fire a broadside, and was a firm favourite of King Henry VIII. After a long and successful career, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology.
