UltimateTV: Did you ever "have at it" with a teacher? Like your character, Pacey, does on "Dawson's Creek"?

Joshua Jackson: I've never slept with any English teachers. But if any English teachers want to come forward now...If Miss Stopple's out there...

UltimateTV: What's it like kissing an older woman?

Joshua Jackson: Quite nice thank you. I had to do a lot of takes on that, I wanted to make sure it was exactly right. She was very cool about it, I was impressed by how graceful she was with it. She was having pangs of guilt because of the real-life teacher/student coupling.

UltimateTV: Which actress do you most want to kiss?

Joshua Jackson: Hmm.......it's not really a short list...Most anybody's who's worked in the last decade.

UltimateTV: In the commercial for "Dawson's Creek," it shows you getting smashed in the face with a basketball. It looks so real! How did you guys shoot that?

Joshua Jackson: The crew doesn't like me, so they smashed me in the face with a basketball. The writers must not like me, they gave me a black eye and a broken nose in the pilot...You have to give credit to the props guy, it was an air ball, a balloon that looked like a basketball.

  UltimateTV: Has all the press about the show changed you from a nice Canadian boy to a wild Hollywood type?

Joshua Jackson: Unfortunately, I was never a nice Canadian boy... I wouldn't say Hollywood, since I've been in North Carolina. I don't think I've changed, but everyone says that.

UltimateTV: Do YOU want to be on the cover of Tiger Beat?

Joshua Jackson: I think James was sleepy that day and didn't know what he was talking about. I've been in them before.... I don't read them, but there's a reason these magazines exist. My sister is just growing out of that stage... I'd be thankful that someone wants to help my career.

UltimateTV: In the Brat Pack scheme of things, say James is Rob Lowe. Which brat packer would you be - Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson or Andrew McCarthy?

Joshua Jackson: I'll go with Emilio...because I know him. I'll have to think about that one. Maybe Andrew McCarthy. I feel like a multi-BratPacker, I channel their spirits through me.

UltimateTV: Are you going to be in any movies soon?

Joshua Jackson: "Apt Pupil" with Brad Renfro and Ian McKellan - that no-talent Brit guy. If anybody else wants to give me a job...

UltimateTV: Does the cast feel any pressure having to open up a new night of programming for the WB network? It seems like they've trusted your show with a lot.

Joshua Jackson: I don't want to speak for the rest of the cast, but first off, 'Buffy' ["Buffy the Vampire Slayer"] is it, we're the new kids on the block...personally I don't feel any pressure, because we're done already, so it's out of my hands now. If we get picked up next year, then we can work out any kinks. They have to tell us by March if they'll pick us up for a new season.

UltimateTV: With the first pilot, you flirted with the teacher, the second pilot, you did much more.... why?

Joshua Jackson: We had to put ten minutes of new footage, that's why you got more bang for the buck.

UltimateTV: Where will you be when the show premieres? And who do you plan to be with?

Joshua Jackson: I'm going to be in New Orleans with all the kids except Katie. We will be pitching ourselves shamelessly.

UltimateTV: What were you doing the first time you saw the promo commercial of "Dawson's Creek" on TV?

Joshua Jackson: They showed them to us in North Carolina. It was kinda cool. The producer called us in, he was kinda giddy... Not that I'm biased, but I think the commercials seem pretty damn good. It was like... Wow... I'm going to be on television. Joshua: You do the show and you work every day and you forget that it's going to be on TV. It's nice that we're all done, now we can sit back....

UltimateTV: Are you on the internet?

Joshua Jackson: As of last night I'm on the net; Last night I finally got a computer. I have rejoined the 21st Century.

UltimateTV: Is Pacey Witter more like Kevin Arnold or "wienerdog" from Welcome to the Dollhouse?

Joshua Jackson: I'll have to go with "wienerdog". (laughs) Such a bizarre question.... WB STAR: JOSHUA: I'm not even close to Kevin Arnold...How could I possibly associate myself with Kevin Arnold. You should have asked that question to James.

From sunrise84: How long is this teacher thing going to last? I can only say you need to watch and wait--but it goes on quite a while.

From linznsc: So, are you really dating Katie Holmes? Oh, yeah. I'm dating Katie, Jen and Jimmy--the whole cast. Hey. I can't answer that.

From Jen: This is everyone's question: Will Dawson and Joey get together? That's the big question of the season, so I'll say they do and they don't; they will and they won't. You gotta watch.

From Michelle: What's it like kissing a woman twice your age? It's kind of like kissing a woman the same age as you--nice. Leann Hunley is a beautiful woman, so it was good for me.

From scammer: Doesn't it feel like you're kissing your mother? No--come on! No slight against my mother--I love ya', Mom--but Leann is a beautiful woman, and my mother is...my mother.

From Laurel: What kind of girl are you looking for? A girl with a pulse.

From vegreville: Does the name "Pacey" have any sort of significance? It's such an unusual name. It's actually the name of one of Kevin Williamson's best friends growing up. I asked about it, too, when I auditioned.

From jamie: Are you anything like Pacey? We're exactly the same. I was that guy at 15, and I am that guy now. I haven't been acting for the last six months; I've just been showing up and being myself.

From dcluvr: What do you do in your free time? I'm back home in Vancouver now. I hang out with the guys. My free time is pretty much like everyone else's free time--but I don't have to work, which is cool.

From Lindsay: So far, I know you and the teacher get caught on tape, but the suspense is killing me. What else can you tell me? Dawson inadvertently catches us on tape. Things start to unravel. The tape comes out, and they become less and less careful about the relationship until it all unwinds down the road.

From adowns: Have you seen Titanic? Did you like it? Could you have played Jack? Yes, I have. Yes, I did. No, I couldn't. Well, I could have, but I wouldn't have been Leonardo DiCaprio. So no, I couldn't.

From bonbonn: How did you get the part on Dawson's? Were you a shoo-in or in callback hell for weeks? Kind of right in the middle. I just happened to be in L.A. and went in and read for Pacey. The next day, they had me read Dawson. Then they said never mind. Then they called again for me to read for Pacey. It took about five days. On my way walking out, they said, "Hey, by the way, we'll see you in North Carolina [where Dawson's is filmed]."

From adowns: Could you have played Dawson? It's the same question as could I play Jack in Titanic. Yes, I could have. But I wouldn't have brought the same things to the part that he does. So the short answer is no, and the long answer is yes, I could have, but you wouldn't be enjoying the show as much.

From lisajoybell: All I want to know is...what are you wearing? Nothing. Well, a Victoria's Secret garter belt. Okay, I'm wearing khakis and a T-shirt. Sorry to disappoint.

From Gadge: I'm totally looking forward to Dawson's Creek coming here (Australia), but what was it like filming the great scene in Scream 2? It was amazing. One day on the set, Kevin Williamson came up and said, "Hey, I want to ask you a huge favor. It's okay if you don't want to do this, but I was wondering if you'd be in a scene in Scream 2." And I was like, "Of course!" They flew me to L.A., put me up in a big hotel and gave me a driver and per diem money. I got to meet Neve Campbell--who I have a huge crush on now--Sarah Michelle Gellar and the guys from Scream 2. It was great!

From i_luv_leo: How do you like being famous? I'm not quite famous yet, but I still get some of the perks. Hey, I'm on E! Online! Actually, I got my license plate free at the DMV because the lady had seen Mighty Ducks. I took out my wallet, and she said, "Honey, your money's no good here."

From Harmony: When will you know if the show will be picked up for another season? They don't have to tell us until June, but I'm hoping they'll tell us sooner so we can go back to North Carolina and get settled in. We'd probably start shooting in June or July. It looks pretty good, but nothing's a sure thing.

From julie: Are you friends with the cast off the set? Yeah, we're really tight. It's like having brothers and sisters. There are fights and squabbles, ups and downs, but we get along really well.

From ann_huang: I'm from Taiwan. How does it feel to be recognized by someone in Taiwan? That's very cool. That's the greatest thing about the Internet: somebody from Australia and a woman from Taiwan.

From vb3: When's your birthday? June 11, 1978.

From daonyell: Did you like doing the J. Crew catalogue? Yeah. My dog, Shumba (means lion in Swahili), is in it, too.

From misty413: What was your first movie/acting job? My first movie was called Crooked Hearts. I was in the first 10 minutes or so. I played the young Peter Berg (Chicago Hope). It also had Vincent D'Onofrio, Noah Wyle, Juliette Lewis and a bunch of others. Wyle and Berg were very cool and took us out all the time.

From camerbeau: Do you have plans to go to college or continue your education? Not definitive plans, but a strong desire once the show is done. At this point, I'd either study English or philosophy.

From adicap711: Is there any way I could be on one episode of Dawson's Creek? I don't know. At this point, we don't know if there're going to be any more episodes. If we get picked up, they'll do a promotion to "win a spot" on the show. Keep an eye out for that.

From misty413: Were you popular in school? I know your costar (Jen on the show) was made fun of. What about you? Well, I didn't exactly run the school, but I got by. I did okay for myself.

From camerbeau: How much is your high school experience on the show like yours was in real life? Unfortunately, I didn't have the pleasure of an illicit affair with a stunning English teacher. But all the basic stuff we're going through is what everyone goes through--first dates and all that. No matter who you are, the first year of high school sucks. It's always an uncomfortable time.

From Kaysea Chase: Would you ever consider going out with someone who wasn't an actress? Would you ever go out with a hometown girl? Yeah, of course. If I only dated actresses, I'd be a very lonely man. My first love was not an actress: five six, curly brown hair, cute as a button--an absolute sweetheart.

From Wanda: What actors do you look up to? Well, any actor who's working. Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are superb actors; Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise are amazing personalities.

From fruitface: Any chance of a Buffy/Dawson's Creek crossover? Well, I've been hoping to get slayed, but we'll see.

From ann_huang: Have you viewed all your fan pages on the Internet? One night we looked at a newsgroup after the pilot, but since then, I haven't. My computer is in L.A., so I need to get it sent to me.

From Krista Leben: I really enjoyed all the Mighty Duck movies, and I think you have some great talent! Do you remember the stand-in for the goalie in the first Mighty Ducks movie? It was Jackson Duckworth, and now he's playing on a Junior Hockey team in Lincoln, Nebraska. Yes, I remember. I just can't remember if he was Goldberg's stand-in or the goalie I put a triple deke on at the New Hope arena.

From ris_11: What do your friends call you? Any nicknames? They usually just call me by my last name, Jackson.

From joeyndawson: What is your fave episode of DC so far? My favorite episode of the show so far is...well, several: The hurricane episode next week is one of my favorites; and we do one based on The Breakfast Club. It's great. The four of us get put into detention with someone else, and the show becomes a knockoff of the movie.

From blonde_bombshell: I used to babysit James Van Der Beek! Does he talk about Cheshire, Connecticut? Yeah, he always talks about Cheshire. He went to Cheshire Academy. That's where his family is. And I think he has said there was this one babysitter that he had this really special experience with...

From jordanna27: I heard you were going to be in Apt Pupil, and I assume it's based on the Stephen King story. If so, how close is the movie script to the actual story? (I remember it being pretty graphic!) The script is close to the original story, but since that was a short story, this is an expanded version. As far as being graphic, it's very disturbing--just really dark, dark stuff. I play Brad Renfro's best friend.

From kina: Do you think there'll be another Mighty Ducks movie? If so, will you resume your role as Charlie? Every once in a while, there's a rumor that a fourth installment is coming, but I have the feeling that if they did, they'd bring in younger kids--our cute factor is running out. But I'd love to pass the torch because I had a great time doing it.

From mspotato: Have you wanted to do anything besides act? I wanted to be an archaeologist. Then I wanted to be an architect. It only dawned on me lately that I could have a career as an actor. But I'll go to school after the show and figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life.

From _usher_: What car do you have? Actually, I just leased a Chevy Tahoe. I did what every actor does--got on a new TV show and got a new car.

From misty413: Everyone's asking: Boxers or briefs? Boxers. Briefs just aren't comfortable (nothing personal to all you brief wearers out there).

From tvq: Have you been working on any projects since wrapping this season of DC? No, I'm gainfully unemployed, back home relaxing. But Katie's doing, like, 35 movies, and Michelle is in Halloween 7. I don't know what James is doing. The girls are taking off; we're the schlubs.

From Wanda: How did you feel about the major marketing campaign for the show? It was great. It showed how behind the show the WB is. It got people to watch that first week. But if I see my face on a poster one more time, I'm probably going to be ill. It was good to get people in the door, now we have to keep 'em there.

From i_luv_leo: Is it fun working on a drama series? I've never done a TV show before. The pace is mind-boggling compared with feature films. But my character is a lot of fun. I get to be the wacky guy. I never used to do comedy.

From vegreville: What's the funniest behind-the-scenes thing to happen so far on the set? I know this is really gonna shock you all, but I'm a practical joker. I always play jokes on the grips and electrical guys. In The Breakfast Club episode, we run through the hall, and I'm supposed to come crashing through a door, but the grips had locked the door on me, and we did, like, a Three Stooges thing with all of us like dominoes hitting the door. After I woke up from my concussion, I thought it was really funny.

From kina: Not to be disrespectful or anything, but how do we know you're the real Joshua Jackson? Because I know my middle name, and you don't.

From camerbeau: Do you enjoy working in Wilmington? What do you guys do off the set? I'm from North Carolina, so that's why I'm curious. Wilmington in the summer is like a resort. After you wrap, you put on the swim trunks and go jump into the ocean. In the winter, it's a little different. If I wasn't working, I don't know what I'd do. I can't go to clubs because I'm not old enough. It's a beautiful town, but I'm glad to be working while I'm there.

From brianct: What kind of music do you listen to? I'm a big blues/jazz fan. As for contemporary music, I listen to rap. I like Common Sense. Resurrection is probably the best hip-hop album of all time.

From gwenstefani: Why is the theme of your show always so sexual? Life isn't like that. Once you stop sleeping with your guitar player, Gwen, I'll answer that.

From russ37: If you were just a regular guy watching the show every week, who would it be: Katie or Michelle? If I was a regular guy watching the show...it would be Katie and Michelle.

From adowns: Any Oscar picks? Well, I just saw Good Will Hunting. Those guys rock. I think Matt Damon's the real deal. But Titanic will probably win Best Picture this year.

From jahyne: Are you clumsy or slick with girls in real life? Clumsy. I wish I were slick.

From vb3: Do you like sports? What's your favorite sport? Favorite team? Yes. Guess what? Hockey. It's the Canucks, and they're just not loving it this year.

From hedalee: What is the whole scenario with Pacey and Jen, and why would Dawson be jealous in later episodes? The deal is that it's not specifically Pacey that Dawson's mad at. He's dealing with his first love, and he's jealous of everyone.

From sam_baker1: What was it like working on Outer Limits? It was filmed in my hometown, so that was the best of all worlds--to get to film and be at home. Kirsten Dunst was nice to work with. I had a good time.

From largo: Do you find yourself just another face in the crowd, or are people starting to recognize you on the street? I'm still pretty much a face in the crowd. There've been a couple of incidents. Once I was in Canada for American Thanksgiving. My sister goes to school on Vancouver Island, and you have to take a ferry. This girl came up to me and said, "You're Charlie from Mighty Ducks." It was sweet and flattering, but then she proceeded to get the other three busloads of kids, and I spent the next hour answering questions about the Mighty Ducks.

From Harmony: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Make myself not quite such a slob. I'm a really messy guy.

From monkeyfingers: What are your views on all the controversy surrounding the show? The controversy is beneficial, because we get more media attention. Obviously, my storyline is controversial, but the rest of the stuff on the show is pretty tame. People are overreacting a little. The show isn't just about sex.

From squill: What do you hope happens with your career? I just hope to enjoy success and be able to do all I want as an actor. And to just keep getting better.
