Rat Patrol

.

Ian Holden sits alone, a report he must complete,

Keep the paper flowing, before returning to the street.

One last thing before he goes, scrap paper in the bin,

He tossed it in a lazy arc, the wadded ball just flew right in.

.

As the paper hit the bottom, there was a crash, bang and a rattle,

This day would not be ordinary, as he prepared himself for battle,

Suddenly before his eyes, was a nasty looking rat,

By all accounts the evil thing, the size of an average cat.

.

A cover unit had arrived, at the sound of Ian’s calls,

But none would fight Ratzilla, in the room or in the halls.

He stepped back in the office, and approached the garbage can,

Armed with his trusty Asp baton, it was rat against one man.

.

He pinned it first against the wall, and thought he might succeed,

Because of the position though, he could not complete the deed.

The rat was really squirming, to free himself to fight,

Ian moving sideways, to get into better light.

.

The rat got loose, and spun around, with gnashing teeth of yellow,

And got a dose of pepper spray, he was a nasty, ugly fellow.

Standing stunned and waiting, for his rat vision to become clear,

Ian moved in quickly, he sensed the kill was near.

.

With a mighty swing, of his baton, the time was near eleven,

His opponent had been neatly sent, to his maker in rat heaven.

Now the Great White Hunter stands, and he gives a little shrug,

For Ian has the makings of, a good sized rat skin rug.
