Audrey Hansford was on radio, working channel two,

Looking for a unit, she had a call for them to do.

Two Charlie Fourteen, was the one, she selected from the bunch,

Some were working on their calls, others were at lunch.

.

No answer was forthcoming, she repeated her broadcast,

The unit then responded, she had them now at last.

Jimmy Karabelas, advised that he would go,

But he had a little errand, they would be a little slow.

.

She called again, and asked him for, projected E.T.A.,

I have to go to Three Twelve Main, was all that he would say.

Give me just five minutes, and we’ll head out to the call,

Jimmy figured that would do, to create a little stall.

.

An update then was broadcast, could Jimmy please head out,

“I’m tied up for a minute”, his voice almost a shout.

But then as fate would have it, Jimmy’s mike was jammed,

The broadcast that we all heard next, is why he’s being slammed.

.

Stuck radios have created, many stories and great laughs,

Legendary comments, and unreported gaffs.

Late at night it happens, with few around to hear,

But this one was on dayshift, and heard both far and near,

.

“I’ll have to send a message”, he first was heard to say,

And then the fateful broadcast, that broke us up that day.

Clear as a bell, his voice was heard, saying to another,

“I’ve got my radio in one hand, and my dink is in the other”.
