STORY BEHIND THE POEM GASSED

.

I was in the gym today working out, when I was approached by a couple of other police officers.  We started chatting, and before you know it, the fateful words were uttered, “hey did you hear about the recruit at Cambie Yards?”.  Admitting that I hadn’t, they filled me in on the story.

.

Cambie Yards, is the city owned maintenance yard, where we go to fuel up our cars at the beginning of shift.  Doc has been a fixture there for years.  On this day, young Jordan Lennox was driving as his field trainer sat beside him and filled his head with all the little procedures we all have to learn.  They pulled in for gas and went through the usual procedure.  Doc stuck the hose in the filler cap and then proceeded to check under the hood.  When he’d done he slammed the hood shut.

.

At this point, I’m assuming Jordan thought everything was done and put the car in gear.  Off he went to resume his patrol duties.  Unfortunately, the fuel hose was still stuck firmly in the filler cap of the car.  With a resounding crash, the hose broke and Jordon was driving through the yard for a short time, trailing the broken hose after him.

.

Just one more embarrassing story to add to the collection.
