June 18, 1997 was truly a special day for the AASNET family. On Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Dalton Foster (Boston, MA) proposed to Ms. Roz Hunt (Houston, TX). He did it, as you can say, "right in front of everybody". The family anxiously awaited Roz's answer. It was a definite "Yes!" The wedding date is tentatively set for August 8, 1998 (two years from the date they met at one of our get togethers). The family is excited and wishes the engaged couple the very best. Houston will be the site next year of a family get together of a different kind.
7/25/97 - Well, the couple decided they couldn't wait a year. Dr. and Mrs. Dalton Foster were married June 26, 1997 at 3:45 p.m. in the Brazos County Courthouse in Bryan, TX. Mrs. Roz Foster will be attending the get-together in Dallas next month (see below). Now, will Dr. D. be making an appearance, too? We'll find something else to celebrate...maybe another couple making an announcement? Only time will tell. Stay tuned.

A Mini-Get Together in Dallas
There will be a mini-get together in Dallas, TX August 22-25, 1997. David Booze (Buffalo, NY) is moving to California and will be passing through the area. We'll be giving David a big Texas "howdy". Tentative plans include a Cowboys game, BBQ cookout at the home of Rick Jones (that's a definite), a night out on the town somewhere in the Metroplex, church services, and some other things we don't know about (yet). We have others coming from around the state and outside Texas. All AASNET members are invited along with anyone else you want to bring. Please read your listserv messages for updates, contact persons, etc. The temperature may be hot but AASNET will be smoking.!!
07/23/97 - See the planning committee in action along with a tentative itinerary
08/31/97 - "AASNET Goes to Dallas" - Tell me we don't know how to have fun. (It was all legal, too. Nobody went to jail.)
October 3, 1997 - Looks like there'll be two more family members "jumping the broom." Our prez, Lawrence Smith, made the announcement to AASNET on behalf of Yolanda Pierce and Will Stonum. The wedding will take place on January 3, 1998 in Atlanta, GA. AASNET family members are already making preparations to attend. Looks like the first "unofficial" gathering for 1998 has been scheduled. Party plans are in the works. New Year's Eve will last more than one day when folks arrive in Atlanta. What a way to bring in the new year!
BTW, the couple met at the gathering in New Orleans. This is the second couple who met at that gathering and are marrying; Dr. D and Roz being the first. There must be something in the water!
Who knows...maybe AASNET has started a tradition.

March 1998 - Well, it's official. Our 1998 AASNET Annual Get-together will be in Washington, DC, the weekend of August 7-9. The area's planning committee is already giving suggestions for activities, hotels, etc. Family members, start saving those pennies! Thanks David W. for tallying the votes.
