Owned by me for 6 years now. It has traveled a whopping 276,005 miles as of November 7, 2002. As you can see, it's in amazing shape. Ok, so a few people have emailed me since seeing this webpage and stated that they have higher mileage on a Beretta. I think they were 345, 290, 250 and one with 440! But nobody ever sent me a picture confirming it. So my claim stands!
Here's the front end, it was hit a few years ago by a tire tread, that's why it's kind've lumpy. Personally, I think it adds character.
Here's a shot of the Odometer, confirming the mileage as of December 10, 2000.
Ok, so all of this mileage hasn't come without some general mantainance, here's what has been done: * Used engine at 140K - current engine now has 203K * Used fuel pump and tank at 225K * New fuel pump at 268K * Used windshield at 202K * Recharged A/C 229K (Damn it's hot in Tennessee) * Recharged A/C again at 252K (Still hot in TN) * Recharged A/C again at 273K (Now hot in MI) * About 7 alternators * On 5th set of tires * A bunch of brakes too! * 2 CD changers * 1 rear wheel bearing * Door hinges * Door window (whoops!!) * Center console lid * 4th Battery * 3rd set of struts/shocks * Gone through about 4 sets of center caps * 3rd exhaust system * Heater core * Coil springs * Ignition module and coils 269K * Ignition module again at 273K * Starter solenoid 273K * Power steering pump 273K * ECM (botched jumpstart)
This is a very durable car, among the original components: * Suspension - ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, rack * Transmission (!) Original fluid until 202K! * Paint * Interior, carpet, seats * Radio, speakers * Radiator
Here's the side view. Damn! That red paint glows don't it? Not bad for an 14 year old car. A few years ago I added 16 Inch Beretta GTU wheels with 225/45 size tires. It also wears a GM strut tower brace that I had chrome plated. Since then it's been downgraded to 2nd car, because it keeps falling apart. But I'll keep it on the road anyway.
There you go. I dig really high mileage cars like mine. Especially when they are Berettas. I think that they have more of a story to tell than low mileage cars that people just keep around and don't drive. If you have a really high mileage car, drop me a line and tell me about it. Maybe we'll start a high-mileage web-ring. The most boring web-ring anywhere!
