THE  ORGANISATION  OF  THE  ISLAMIC  CONFERENCE  ( OIC )


INTRODUCTION  :

I . I . T  is  basically  an  International  educational  and  research  institution.  It  was  formally  inaugurated  by  H.E.  the  Prime  Minister  of  the  Peoples’  Republic  of  Bangladesh  on  21  September , 1995. The  Institute  trains  Engineers  and  Technologists  in  technologies  needed  in  the  Member  States  through  its  long  regular  programmes  and  offers  skill  upgrading  and  knowledge  updating  short  courses  of  international  standard.

LOCAITON  :

IIT  is  located  at  Board Bazar , Gazipur ,  about  30  km  north  of  Dhaka ( Latitude = 230  43’N , Longitude = 900 25’ E ) ,  the  capital  city  of  Bangladesh. The  capital  is  serveed  by  an  International  Airport  with  widely  developed  airlinks  with  the  rest  of  the  world  and  by  satellite  telecomunication.

There  are  three  well-defined  seasons  in  a  year.  The  temperature  ranges  between  a  minimum  of  70 C  in  the  winter  and  an  average  320 C  during  the  summer. The  average  yearly  railfall  is  225  cm.

PHYSICAL  FACILITIES  :

The  Campus  of  IIT  is  spread  over  an  area  of  12  hecters  of  land. The  architectural  plan  and  design  of  the  facilities  were  carried  out  by  Mr.  M.D.  pamir ,  a  renowned  Turkish  architect.

The  following  buildings  with a  floor  area  of  about  21,600  m2  have  been  built .
