The Coffin of Amenhotep I

 

 History of the coffin:

The coffin does date to the 18th Dynasty, but is not the original coffin belonging to Amenhotep I. - The coffin is of a non-royal type, and the remains of an inscription name the original owner as Thot-nefer.

The Uraeus on the brow was added as was the royal beard (presuambly by the high priests reburing Amenhotep.

A hieratic note (just above the vulture on the chest of the coffin) was made by priests at the time of the reburial.
