The Coffin and mummy of Masaharta

General and High Priest of Amen at Thebes.

The mummy of Masaharta matches the typical mummies of queens of the period - a well packed body and face giving the mummy a very plump appearance. Although the jewellery originally buried with the mummy has been lost, the body itself is intact.

Height of the body - 1.696 metres.

Masaharta was buried in a set of identical cedar coffins, all of which are still mainly intact. Both the coffins and the board are covered with finely painted funerary scenes. (The coffins and board were made for Masaharta).
