Fortunately, her sister Ethel who had not married helped her raise the children. Ethel was known by the family as "Auntie". Tressa worked in several hotels, and was known for her fine pastries. Eventually she purchased a hotel in Springfield, renaming it the Hodges Hotel. After retiring from the hotel business, she rented out the extra rooms in her pink Victorian home on Main Street.
