1225 Grand Junction Rd., Hope Valley. Adelaide, South Australia.
About our club... Hope Valley Bowling and Community Club Inc. is situated in peaceful surroundings beside the Hope Valley Lutheran Retirement Village. Vehicle access is via a private road which runs alongside the village, the entrance to which is opposite the Foodland shopping centre next to the Bremen Hotel on Grand Junction Road (200 metres west of Valley Road). The club has three full-size greens; two Tifdwarf and one Santa Anna. At least one green is kept open for most of the year allowing maximum usage - be it on a social basis, for practice or for pennants. There is a large, airy club house with a fully licensed bar and large kitchen. These facilities allow for many social events to be held at the club making it a place not only for the bowling fraternity to 'do their thing', but also for other groups to hold events and functions. During the winter season, the club also provides indoor bowling facilities where some of the members play pennants and social games. There are generally three mats available for use by those who feel the urge to keep their arm swinging throughout the year. Experienced and new bowlers alike are welcome at any time of the year with the younger bowler gradually becoming a much more common sight. The club often has school groups in a 'giving it a go' program, dispelling the myth that the game of lawnbowls is a pastime purely for the 'oldies'. Facilities Meals are served at the club every Friday night, along with a Happy Hour between 6.00pm and 7.00pm. Meals cost a mere $6.00 for a generous main course and sumptuous dessert. The menu is vast and varied with all meals being a gastronomic delight. Friday nights have proven to be very popular and make a great night out for bowlers and their friends. During the Winter season, there is generally at least one indoor mat down for any potential recruits to try their hand, with an eager array of seasoned 'experts' always ready to impart their wealth of knowledge on the uninitiated. The disabled bowler is also well catered for. All greens have permanent ramps for wheelchair access and there are easily accessible disabled persons toilet facilities in the club room. Such are the facilities that the 1997 South Australian wheelchair bowlers held their State Championships at Hope Valley for the first time with nothing but praise being bestowed upon the club following a very successfully managed event. Hiring of the clubrooms is available for community members to hold events. The costs to hire our magnificent facilities is decided by our management , and could change from those shown below.
A small deposit of $20 is required to confirm a booking and a security bond of $150 is payable prior to the event which is to cover any breakages or damage. Some, or all, of the bond may be refunded following the next Administration Committee Meeting .
There is ample car parking on site. Access is from the Grand Junction Road entrance.
