Business Meetings Business meetings are just a small part of what we do and are necessary to conduct the formal planning of the chapter. They are also a psuedo-social event, providing an opportunity for everyone to catch up with each other. Attendance is optional. They are held on the third Tuesday of every month at the Hunter House in Vienna, VA. Meetings begin at 7:30 pm. You need no invitation to attend--just show up! Our "calendar" year begins in September and ends in May, so during the months of June-August, there are no formal business meetings. Meeting Schedule September: 1st mtg of year October: Dues are due November: New member induction ceremony December: Standard meeting January: Standard meeting February: Standard meeting March: Meet Me planning April: Executive Council nominations May: eCouncil Elections, last mtg of year June: Social event only July: Social event only August: Social event only | |

History of the Chapter - Founded by Jeff Carter, Jeff Lawton, and Kim Smith in 1995. - The first executive council consisted of Jeff Lawton, Jeff Carter, Kim Smith, and Laurie Howard. - The Capital Chapter was officially recognized at the 1996 National Convention in Norfolk. - The Charter was presented at National Convention in 1997 in Cincinnati. Although the Charter called us the "Washington DC Alumni Chapter," we continue to brand ourselves as the Capital Chapter. - The first Meet Me in DC Weekend was held in 1997. There has been a Meet Me weekend each year since, with attendance growth at each event. Participation One of the greatest aspects of the Capital Chapter is its flexibility. We follow a simple philosophy: "What you put in is what you get out." There are no restrictions or fines for non-attendance of any meeting or event. You may attend as many (or as few) meetings and events as your busy schedule can accommodate. The only required participation is paying your dues so that we may fund our chapter outreach and recruitment initiatives.
