Origins, Aims & Objectives |
The Meath Peace Group is made up of ordinary people from various parts of Co. Meath. It is a totally voluntary group. The group came together in March 1993 in the belief that ordinary people have a role and responsibility in bringing about the climate in which a just and lasting peace can develop. Aims and ObjectivesTo promote peace through the fostering of understanding, mutual respect, trust , co-operation and friendship, through dialogue between people North and South To encourage and facilitate ordinary people, particularly in Co. Meath, to recognise their role and responsibility in helping to promote peace and understanding, and to assist in the empowerment of those people in the long-term work of building the foundations for a lasting peace on the island. To raise awareness and improve information, and to encourage and contribute to debate and meaningful dialogue on issues of conflict. |

Letters & Statements | MPG regularly writes to
the press on developeeements in the peace process.

Drogheda Peace Rally | A peace
rally which was to be held in Drogheda attracteed a large crowd in response to the
disastrous bombing in Omagh, August 15th 1998. The Meath Peace Group participated in
the service held in Drogheda. Julitta Clancey addressed the rally on behalf of the MPG.

Parades Commission submission | In 1997 MPG presented a
submission to the Parades Commission.

Talks & Lectures | MPG's primary activity is
the organisation on regular talks.
