MALAYBALAY, BUKIDNON-
the unnofficial guide!

GETTING THERE AND AWAY

Malaybalay used to have an airport, but the surrounding mountains
made landing too difficult, so the nearest airport is Lumbia Airport
in Cagayan De Oro City. Buses and jeepneys make the 2 1/2 hour journey
between CDO and Malaybalay all day from Agora Market.

Mount Kitangalad overlooks the town and most of Bukidnon. There are some great nature trails in the area and once a year cycling enthusiasts from all over Asia compete in a tourturous bicycle race from Cagayan De Oro to Malaybalay. The town is a major agricultural center for Mindanao (the second largest island in the Philippines) and is ideally suited for crops like potatoes and corn because of it's year-round damp climate (not wet, just damp!)
