1) The miracle of water into wine
John 2: 1-11
And on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and Jesus also was invited, and His disciples. And when the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, why is that my responsiblilty? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says for you to do, do it." Now there were six stone water pots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing thirty gallons each. Jesus said to them, "Fill the water pots with water." And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, "Draw some out now, and take it to the headwaiter." And they took it to him. And when the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom, and said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first, and when men have drunk freely, then that which is poorer; but you have kept the good wine until now." This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

All the various wines of this world that men so depend on will also run out and eventually bring nothing but great disappointment and sadness. There are tremendous wants in this world and only Jesus Christ can satisfy them. Only Jesus can turn the "waters" of this world into the "wines" of heaven, and once you put complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ you will be able to say, thou hast kept the good wine until now. Jesus is the one who brings joy that will last forever.

Not only did Jesus change water into wine but the quantity was enormous. Jesus had six huge water pots filled to the brim with water, with the result being a most excellent wine. Jesus will not only bless his children, but he will bless them in great abundance, so much that their cup will runnith over.

It is interesting to note that Mary, the mother of Jesus, gives us the answer to the question of how a person can receive Eternal Salvation. John 2:5 describes Mary telling those officiating at the wedding, "Whatever He says for you to do, do it". And there lies the answer to obtaining eternal salvation - Do all that the Lord commands.

As soon as they had filled the water pots with water Jesus said immediately, Draw some out now, and it was done. Without any ceremony. One would have thought he should have come out, and stood, and called on the name of God. No, he sits still in his place, says not a word, but wills it to happen. This shows that Christ does great and marvellous things without noise, without fan fair. Likewise the blessings of Christ descend down unannounced on the children of God.
Jesus is man's answer to disappointment.

2) Healing the noble man's son
John 4: 46-53
He came therefore again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official, whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him, and was requesting Him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe." The royal official said to Him, "Sir, come down before my child dies." Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your son lives." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he started off. And as he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his son was living. So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him." So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, "Your son lives"; and he himself believed, and his whole household believed also.

This man cannot believe the cure could be wrought without the Lord coming to his son. The thought of such a thing evidently never occurred to him. He also evidently regarded the powers of Jesus as limited only to the living. But Jesus will in a moment bring him to the reality that what heals is the faith that a person puts in Jesus. Distance of time and place are no obstacles to the knowledge and power of our Lord. And what follows happens instantaneously. "The man believed the word," and the cure, shooting quicker than lightning from Cana to Capernaum, was felt by the dying youth instantly.

Go thy way; thy son liveth. Jesus enlarges the nobleman's conception of his divine power by showing him that his words take effect without regard to distance. So the father . . . himself believed. We note here a growth in the faith of the nobleman. He first believed in the power of Jesus' "presence", then in the power of Jesus' "Word", and finally he believed in Jesus himself, and his entire household shared this belief.

Also, since the nobleman was very powerful you would think he might have ordered Jesus to come to him; to where his son was. However, even the greatest and most powerful men, when they come to God, must become as beggars and paupers, and all their world strengths and possessions must be shed just as a snake sheds its skin.
Jesus is man's answer to doubt.

3) Healing the man at the pool
John 5:1-9
After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes. In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered, waiting for the moving of the waters; for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool, and stirred up the water; whoever then was first in the pool, after the stirring up of the water, was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted. And a certain man was there, who had been thirty-eight years in his sickness. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, "Do you wish to get well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "Arise, take up your bed, and walk." And immediately the man became well, and took up his bed and began to walk. Now it was the Sabbath on that day.

This miracle shows that those in affliction, even those in extremely long periods of distress like this man, can find real comfort and healing only in Jesus Christ. Here is a man who was helpless and hopeless, whose infirmity was probably paralysis, and was probably the most pitiful one at the pool. Christ delights in helping the helpless. Observe the process:
(1) Christ addresses the man;
(2) he then commands;
(3) the man obeys. It is the obedience of faith;
(4) In the act of obedience he is healed.
The man did not need the stirring waters of the pool for his healing. What he needed was Jesus Christ. Christ is the healer. And this lame man, who stands for all men, was healed by obedience and faith in Jesus.

The duration of the man's paralysis was very tedious: Thirty-eight years. He was lame longer than many in the world live and he never ever saw a well day. Therefore shall we complain of one wearisome night, or one fit of illness, or one instance where things go wrong? How great a mercy was it to live thirty-eight years under God's wholesome discipline, for the man still waited patiently next to the pool, just waiting patiently for that angel from God to make his next appearance.

The paralyzed man says to Jesus, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool". He does not think of any other way of being cured than by these holy waters from God, and desires no other friendship than to be helped into them. And observe further, to his praise, that though he had waited so long in vain, yet still he continued lying by the pool, hoping that some time, help would come. One would think that some of those who had been themselves healed would have lent him a hand; but it is common for the poor to be destitute of friends. None had the charity to say, "Your case is worse than mine, you go in now, and I will stay till the next time;'' for there is no getting over the old maxim, Every one for himself. Having been so often disappointed, he begins to despair, and now it is Christ's turn to come to his relief; for Christ delights in helping desperate cases. "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool". Now he has more than that, now he has the Son of God, Jesus Christ. The great healer. Jesus simply speaks the words, Rise, take up thy bed! And he, who a minute before was not even able to turn himself in his bed, now is able to carry his bed.

This story also helps to demonstrate the tremendous gulf that lies between the believer and the nonbeliever. When Jesus commanded the man to, Arise, take up your bed, and walk, the man did just that. He didn't hesitate and question whether or not Jesus could heal him. He didn't debate whether or not he could even lift himself up. He didn't tell himself that for the last 38 years he has been flat on his back. He didn't call out to his friends and ask their opinions about whether he should follow the instructions that Jesus gave him. He did none of that. What he did was put his faith in Jesus. What he did was believe that Jesus could indeed get him up on his feet. For when Jesus told him to get up, the man believed that Jesus had the power and the ability to get him up on his feet, and the man got up.

Just a few verses later we can see what the world's response is to the healing of this man. For the world's response is one of pride and jeleousy, and it's attempt to stamp out Godly truth.

John 5:16-18 "For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God."

These religious leaders didn't celebrate the man's renewed health. They didn't ask Jesus if he would heal all the sick in the entire city so that everyone could have good health. They didn't ask Jesus to tell them how he has this power to heal a sick man that they themselves have had to look at for the last 38 years. They didn't care why Jesus picked that particular man over all the others. They didn't wonder if this Jesus could teach them anything. They didn't want Jesus to explain any of this. What they wanted was Jesus dead, for what they saw in Jesus was an outsider, infringing on their turf, in their own little bailiwick.
Jesus is man's answer for all disability.

4) Jesus feeds the 5,000
John 6: 4-13
Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. Jesus therefore lifting up His eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to Him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?" And this He was saying to test him; for He Himself knew what He was intending to do. Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little." One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?" Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, He distributed to those who were seated; likewise also of the fish as much as they wanted. And when they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments that nothing may be lost." And so they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

It is interesting, but in this miracle Jesus tells the disciples to have the 5,000 people all sit down even though there is no food to set before them. The apostles as well as the people all obeyed showing tremendous faith and trust in Jesus. Keep in mind that it was God who also fed Israel with manna every day for forty years while they were in the wilderness.

This story also shows the possible blessings that can rain down from heaven. Jesus really didn't feed the 5,000. All Jesus did was to look up to heaven, to his Father. And in a state of complete faith and trust, he gave thanks to the Father. It was Jesus's tremendous faith in his Father that fed the 5,000.

The food was then distributed from the hand of Christ to the hands of his disciples. All our comforts come to us from the hand of Christ. Regardless of whoever brings them, it is The Lord that sends them; he distributes to those who distribute to us. In distributing the bread of life to those that follow him, he makes tremendous use of the ministration of his followers; for his followers are the servers at Christ's table.

Notice to the lad who had the five barley loaves and the two fish. In the eyes of most of those people in that crowd this young man was probably looked upon as a nobody. He didn't stand out, was probably poor, and was more than likely very low in importance when compared with the rich and powerful who came to see whether this Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah. But the young man had something that most in that crowd didn't. He had faith in Jesus, because when he was summoned by Jesus he put his trust into Jesus and willingly turned over to him all of his loaves and fish. That young man had absolutely no idea what he was about to witness and experience, but needless to say, the things happening that day would undoubtedly have an incredible impact on his life, and he would probably never ever forget a single thing that happened to him on that peaceful day spent with the Son of God.

This may be the reason why this particular miracle is the only one in the Bible that is written about in all four gospels; for it indicates that all of mankind can have miraculous things happening in their lives, if they only place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Our Lord is all to happy to feed you each and every day. Not so much with the food that your physical body requires each day, but with spiritual food. The type of food that you are going to need to gain eternal salvation and achieve eternal life.

When the meal was over they filled twelve baskets with the left overs, which was evidence not only that they were fed with real food, but the greatness of it, as well as the fact that Jesus did not skimp because each person ate as much as they wanted and all were full. See how large the divine bounty is if you follow the Lord, because it not only fills the cup, but the cup runs over. Jesus said, "I am the bread of life". It is only Jesus that can feed men with the truth.

The Bible doesn't tell us, but you have to wonder if after everyone was finished eating, and all the leftovers were gathered up and placed in the twelve baskets, whether each of the twelve men who would very soon be going out in the world carrying God's message, was not standing there holding a filled basket thinking about the wonders of the Son of God.
Jesus is man's answer for all hunger.

5) Jesus walks on water
John 6: 16-21
Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. And it had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. And the sea began to be stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. When therefore they had rowed about three or four miles, they beheld Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened. But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid." They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

This miracle shows that everything that is over man's head is under Jesus' feet. There is nothing that Jesus cannot do for the ones who love him. Our Lord will go to extraordinary lengths for his children. The times that you are frightened are the times when you need the Lord the most. The apostles were afraid at first but when they realized who was walking on the water they became new men, they put their faith and trust in him, and took him willingly into the ship.

This miracle also shows that when trouble arrives we tend to forget all the many miracles and blessings that God has bestowed upon us in the past. The apostles had just seen Jesus feed them and the 5,000 with just a few loaves and a few fish. So all the past blessings that he has given us should strengthen the foundation of trust that we have in the Lord, but unfortunately we have a tendency to simply forget how the Lord is watching over us and how caring he is towards us.

Other points regarding this miracle.
1) The power Christ has over the laws and customs of nature, to control and dispense with them at his pleasure. But then it was Jesus who created nature.
2) The concern Christ has for his children in distress. He will not leave them comfortless when they seem to be tossed about by the trials and tribulations of this world. When they are banished (as John) into remote places, or shut up (as Paul and Silas) in closed places, he will find access to them, and will come to them.
3) The relief Christ gives to his children when they are in fear. The disciples were afraid, afraid not only of the winds and waves, not only of their possible death, but even of the vision of Jesus who was walking on the water coming towards them.
4) God will many times come to your aid with help in ways that you least expect. Never did the apostles think, not for a second, not in their wildest imagination did they think that they would see the Lord coming to help them, walking on the surface of the water.

The Godly, even when they are following the Lord, are often in peril and great danger. Clouds and darkness often surround the children of God, but as long as their faith and trust remain in Jesus, then victory will be achieved in all of life's trials and tribulations. Only Christ can give relief in times of fear. Fears vanish when Christ affectionately tells the heart, It is I, be not afraid.
Jesus is man's answer for all despair.

6) Healing the blind man
John 9: 1-12
And as He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?" Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was in order that the works of God might be displayed in him. "We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work. "While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to the eyes of the blind man, and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam". So he went away and washed, and came back seeing. The neighbors therefore, and those who previously saw him as a beggar, were saying, "Is not this the one who used to sit and beg?" Others were saying, "This is he," still others were saying, "No, but he is like him." He kept saying, "I am the one." Therefore they were saying to him, "How then were your eyes opened?" He answered, "The man who is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, 'Go to Siloam, and wash'; so I went away and washed, and I received sight." And they said to him, "Where is He?" He said, "I do not know".

We are all born blind of Godly truth, and we do not see the light until that precious day when we ask our Lord to come into us. All men are naturally blind and can only receive the light that will allow them to see from the Son of God. He is the only light source, and once you receive our Lord, then your eyes will be opened and you will finally be able to really see. At his word sightless eyes see. At his word darkened souls are flooded with light.

Thus the fall of man was permitted, and the blindness that followed, that the works of God might be manifest in opening the eyes of the blind. Christ would cure this blind man, this representative of a blind world, because he came here to be the light of the world, not only to give light, but to give sight. John 8:12, "I am the light of the world."

"Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?" In other words the apostles were asking Jesus, Who were the criminals, this man or his parents? They take it for granted that this extraordinary calamity was the punishment for some uncommon wickedness, and that this man was a sinner above all men that dwelt at Jerusalem. They inquire whether this man was punished thus for some sin committed before his birth. Jesus gives the reason of this poor man's blindness: "Neither has this man sinned nor his parents, but he was born blind, and has continued so to this day, that now at last the works of God should be made manifest in him. Thus man comes into this world blinded to the truth of God so that the works of God might be manifest in opening the eyes of the blind.

Here Jesus is telling us that the world may befall upon innocent Godly people, many bad things. Their own sins as well as the sins of others, will generally have great impact on the lives of many innocent souls. But it was that very first sin, that sin in the Garden, that allowed disease, sickness, and pain to flood into the world. But the important thing to remember is to keep one's focus upon Jesus Christ. Maintain faith in the Lord, for if you do, then you have his assurance that he will strengthen you and see you through any and all difficult times. By keeping your eyes upon the Lord, your eyes will be opened to the truth and to the light.

Also Christ's making use of his own spittle shows that there is healing virtue in every thing that belongs to Christ. The clay made of Christ's spittle was much more precious than any balm or medicine that could be obtained from a physician. Man was formed out of the clay, and moulded of the clay, and here Christ uses the same material to give sight to the man. We must come to Christ for the eye-salve that will allow us to see, and the eye-salve is Jesus Christ.

Go, wash in the pool of Siloam. This signifies the healing waters of baptism in which one might not only wash and be clean, but wash and have their eyes opened. So that when Christ sent him to the pool of Siloam he did in effect send him to himself; for Christ is the healing balm for all souls. The blind man had faith in the Lord, and he obeyed him and went and washed, and came back seeing. It was the faith that this blind man had put in Jesus Christ that allowed his eyes to become opened.

The man had never seen Jesus, for by the time that he had gained his sight his physician was gone; and he asked, Where is he? Even though the blind man never laid eyes on Jesus, he knew him, and knew him very well. And thus we are like the blind man in that respect for even though we have never seen Jesus, we also know him very well, and we feel and sense his presence all about.

Also this poor blind man could not see Christ, but Christ saw him. And Christ saw this blind man as he passed by. Great emphasis is put on seeing this man as he passed by and our Lord is telling us that we should take every occasion to do good to others, even as we pass by, wherever we are, whatever we are doing.
Jesus is man's answer for all darkness.

7) Jesus raises the dead
John 11: 30-44
Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met Him. The Jews then who were with her in the house, and consoling her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. Therefore, when Mary came where Jesus was, she saw Him, and fell at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died." When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her were also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled, and said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus wept. And so the Jews were saying, "Behold how He loved him!" But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him who was blind, have kept this man also from dying?" Jesus therefore again being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you, if you believe, you will see the glory of God?" And so they removed the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes, and said, "Father, I thank Thee that Thou hearest Me. And I knew that Thou hearest Me always; but because of the people standing around I said it, that they may believe that Thou did send Me." And when He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth." He who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings; and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go.

Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." Martha evidently thought that Jesus wished to see the remains of his friend, and her sisterly feelings prompted her to attempt to conceal from Jesus the humiliating and offensive ravages of death. She had no idea that in just a few moments Lazarus would be back amongst the living. Her words unfortunately are very similar to the many uttered all down through the ages, for it shows how little expectation of a resurrection there really is.

"When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her were also weeping, then Jesus also wept."
Why would Jesus weep for Lazarus when he knew that in just a few moments Lazarus would be once again back with the living? But the thing was, Jesus was not weeping for the dead Lazarus. Jesus was weeping for the living Mary and Martha. Mary was before him, fallen to her knees in utter despair and in great sorrow, believing that Our Lord could do no more.

So Jesus could see that Mary and Martha had completely shattered hearts. And Jesus was experiencing the same pain and hurt that the two sisters were experiencing. Jesus also knew something else. He knew that in just a few moments Lazarus would be walking out of his tomb. And that is why it is most remarkable to see Jesus showing such compassion by weeping for the pain, the hurt, and the sorrow that Mary and Martha were both going through.

He spoke, and it was done. The resurrection of Lazarus was not only an attack upon the gates of death, it was victory over death. Only through Jesus can one also have victory over death and thus obtain eternal life. He that believes in me will never die, I am the resurrection and the life.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 "The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first". Christ shall descend with a shout, with a command. Come forth! He shall call both the souls and the bodies to the heavens, that he may be with his children, and they with him.

John 5:29 And they shall come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Romans 6:5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, so to will we be in the likeness of His resurrection.

Jesus is man's answer to death.
