Here are the new attractions at SIngapore Jurong Bird Park!

Humboldt Penguin

The Penguin Parade.

Occupying an area of 1,630 square metres, the Penguin Parade is the home to the endearing penguins found at the BirdPark. There are more than 200 of them living here. The five species on exhibit are the Humboldt, the Rockhopper, the Macaroni, the Fairy and the majestic King Penguin. The Penguin Parade, with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, has a large pool set against a landscape of rocks, cliffs, nesting alcoves and burrows. This simulates the birds’ natural habitat in the Antarctic.

Splash N Slide Station

Splash N Slide Station

The Splash N Slide Station, is a new facility for children to enjoy. This will be the 1st wet and dry playground in Singapore without the requisite splash pool. The absence of a splash pool, a zero-water-depth concept, breaks new ground in playground safety and hygiene, as it eliminates the possibilities of pool-based accidents and diseases. Perhaps the most innovative thing about this zero-water-depth concept is that it allows wheelchair-bound children to participate in water-based activities safely without getting out from their wheelchairs.

The World of Darkness

The World of Darkness is Asia’s first nocturnal bird house, opened in 1982. Exhibiting nocturnal birds through a system of reversed lighting, this system enables day to be converted into night and vice-versa. The exhibits have been increased in size to allow for more space and a diverse mix of species to be displayed along biogeographically and habitat themes. The exhibit now houses approximately 60 birds from 17 different species.

Window on Paradise12-Wired Bird of Paradise

Window on Paradise

Our revamped Birds of Paradise exhibit, christened Window on Paradise, offers a lovely ringside view of the Bird of Paradise, all thanks to the newly added 40m long tree-top level walkway which offers a completely unobtrusive view of the birds since there is no wire mesh separating the visitor from the birds. Perfect for peering into Paradise. Now would be the best time to observe these birds as they enter the mating season with fabulously-coloured plumage and intricate courtship behaviour.

Parrot Paradise

Parrot Paradise

The spectacular Parrot Paradise was opened as one of the highlights of the Park’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The Parrot Paradise, a one-hectare exhibit showcases more than 500 parrots from 110 species. It was built at a cost of $2.5 million. These parrots were formerly scattered around the Park in individual aviaries. This new exhibit was conceived from the idea of housing them into one comprehensive exhibit for the convenience of the visitors. The 32 aviaries were designed to simulate as closely as possible the parrots’ natural habitats with the help of beautiful hand-painted murals, as well as the natural vegetation. These habitats include tropical rainforest, grasslands, semi-desserts, riverbanks, or rocky cliffs.

Jungle JewelParadise Tanager

Jungle Jewels

The design of Jungle Jewels walk-in aviary creates an environment where visitors can observe at close proximity a fraction of the amazing diversity and complexity of the South American rainforest. High in the treetops live fruit-eating birds like the tanagers and cotingas. In the lower levels, honeycreepers and finches are more common. On the forest floor and streams live the waterbirds like teals and pintails. However, the Hummingbirds, arguably the colourful bird in the world with their boundless energy and vibrant, iridescent plumage, are the main highlight of Jungle Jewels.

Hornbills & Toucans Exhibits

Hornbills & Toucans Exhibit

Playful South American toucans tossing fruits into the air; exotic hornbills displaying their magnificent bills and casques in flight; the female hornbill sealing herself in a tree hole for nesting – these amazing and rare sights of nature are happening right here at the Hornbills and Toucans Exhibit. Covering an area of 2,000m², the exhibit houses the world’s largest collection of Southeast Asian hornbills and a wide variety of South American toucans. The 25 large aviaries measuring some 10m in height are landscaped to simulate the birds’ natural habitat. These spacious aviaries provide a conducive environment for them to display their natural behaviour and also breed in captivity.
