We are an educational, not-for-profit, family-oriented club made up of people with diverse skills but a common interest in rocks, minerals, fossils and lapidary skills.

We work with 4-H, scouts, public and parochial schools, home schools, and youth organizations to further the knowledge of earth sciences ans spark interest in our youth, from where our future scientist will come

Some of us like our minerals in their natural form; others like to facet, cab or tumble them.  Some prefer fossils; some like rocks.  Others enjoy jewelry making or just the "thrill of the hunt" to find things.  The Three Rivers Gem & Mineral Society includes meteorite lovers, gem tree makers, wire wrappers and more.  Earth Science covers many areas and we probably have at least one member interested in each.  We are not professionals.  Some of us have just now discovered an interest in rocks and want to learn more.  Perhaps you are such a person?  We have all been there.  Come check us out.  Visitors are welcome!

AFFILIATIONS

Our more than 50 year old club is a member of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies (MWF) (an association of 9 states), which is a larger rock, mineral and fossil collecting organization.  As members, we participate in club liability insurance on club events for up to a million dollars.  Click HERE for the MWF website.

The Midwest Federation is a member of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS).  the AFMS provides  lobbying in Washington, D.C. to help protect the rights of collectors and to ensure that our children will be able to collect rocks, minerals and fossils too.  Click HERE for the AFMS website.
