Throughout the Scriptures we can find
the word "bread" mentioned again and again.. The Books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Samuel, Kings,.. etc. All
refer to bread as a life-giving sustenance.
The True Prescence in the Bread is revealed only during the ministry of Christ. Within His parables, His stories, His teachings.. Our Lord
uses bread to compare the Nutrients of Life only God can offer.
Jesus is questioned: "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you?
What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:
'He gave them bread from heaven to eat. So Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life
to the world.
So they said to Him, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst."(Jn 6: 30-35)
What a wonderful promise!!! All we have to do is Accept His Presence.. Believe.. to turn.. to come to Him for Life!!
At the Last Supper: "Christ took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me."
We are instructed to eat the Bread He
has given us. In other words, Bread of Life has been offered to us.. The needs of our existance were long ago met.. In times when we feel ourselves weak; hungry; struggling.. and "alone".. accept the Bread of Life...
Let us pray the words our Lord taught us:
Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day,
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Ask Him for your daily Bread.. It is His Promise!!
