Military Records of Julius H.D. Behme, Private, Company K., 67
th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
Julius Henry Derek Behme mustered in to Company K, 67 th Ohio
Infantry on Aug. 2, 1862, and mustered-out at Fortress Monroe,
Virginia on July 6, 1865. Frederick, his oldest son,
mustered-in at the age of 19 on Nov. 7, 1861. He is listed as having died
of disease (I believe the measles) at Cumberland, Maryland on March 19, 1862
and is buried in Antietam National Cemetery, in Sec. 1, Row B, Grave 83.
Anton mustered-in at the age of 18 on Nov. 18, 1861 as a corporal and transferred to the
30th Company, 2nd Battalion Veteran Reserve Corps on August 21, 1863.

No pension records have been found so far. The text listed in italics was
filled in by hand at the completion of the form.
Volunteer Enlistment
State of Ohio, Town of Tontagany
I, (signed) Julius Behme born in Germany in the State of
(blank), aged forty four years, and by occupation a Tailor, Do Hereby
Acknowledge to have volunteerd this Twenty Seventh day of August, 1862,
to serve as a Soldier in the ARMY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, for the period
of THRE YEARS, unless sooner discharged by the proper authority: Do also agree to accept such
bounty, pay, rations, clothing, as are, or may be, established by law for volunteers. And I,
Julius Behme do solemnly swear, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the
United States of America , and that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all
their enemies or oposers whomsoever; and that I will observe and obey the orders of the president
of the United States, and the orders of the officers apointed over me, according to the Rules
and Articles of War.

I CERTIFY, ON HONOR, That I have carefully examined the above named volunteer, agreeably
to the General Regulations of the Army, and that in my opinion he is free from all bodily
defects and mental infirmity, which would, in any way, disqualify him from performing the
duties of a soldier.

I CERTIFY, ON HONOR, That I have minutely inspected the Volunteer, Julious Behme
previously to his enlistment, and that he was entirely sober when enlisted; that, to the
best of my judgement and beliefe, he is of lawful age; and that, in accepting him as duly
qualified to perform the duties of an able-bodied soldier, I have strictly observed the
Regulations which govern the recruiting service. This soldier has Blueeyes, Brown
hair, Dark complexion, is 5 feet 9 inches high.
