Metaphysics of Presence
Circulatory System

Breathe in. Breathe out. Every thrid rate yoga instructor knows this: each breath depends upon its opposite, exhale makes way for air, inhale must expell it. But what happens when you hold your breath? In yoga you get quite a rush. In post-structuralist critics of the metaphysics of presence you exclude absence and ambiguity in order to assert presence and certainity. Play is reduced to the bland face of bourgeois factuality. And those facts always imply a relation of dominance: the woman is absent from man because man must only be man.
