This race is run across the skin every minute of the day. It hasn't always been taking place. Races are part of the knowledge-production of Imperial nations in order to justify a realtionship of domination. It attempts to clearly mark who's on bottom and who's on top..
There are always ruptures in racialized discourses: mixed-race children, Indians in suits, Mr. Kurtzes, hybridity, low class whites and upper class blacks. Race channels desires towards same race relations or towards an exoticized other. Or it channels it in more complicated, ambiguous ways. Race unites and kills, territorializes and erases boundaries, people speak in the name of races and deny their existence. Race mimics, masks hides, performs, displays itself. We know who wins this race though.
