Guide to Lunar Correspondences

For Wiccans, the most powerful source of energy is the Moon. In magick, the position and phase of the Moon is considered to be one of the deciding factors in when to celebrate, or when to use magick.

Main Lunar Cycles:

Waxing Moon

(When the moon is on the increase, going from a small crescent [new moon] to a full moon) is the ideal time for magick involving love, growth, beginning new projects, initiation, and enhancement. (from 7 to 10 days after New Moon
motivation,luck,courage, friends)

Waning Moon

(When the moon is on the decrease, going from a full moon back to a crescent) is the best time to break spells or stop bad situations, banish evil influences, lessen or remove obstacles and illness, neutralize enemies, and to remove harm.( 7 to 10 days after the full moon
change, enemies, justice, obstacles, quarrels, removal, separation, stopping theft)

Full Moon

is when psychic energy is at its peak, it's the best time for prophecy and divination. The days just before the Full Moon are the most powerful times for fruition and completion. (14 days after the new moon change and decisions, children, competition, dreams, love, protection, money, self-improvement, healing)

New Moon
from the day of the New Moon to 3 days later
health, gardening and farming, job hunting, love and romance.

Cresent Moon
from 3 days after New Moon through the 7th day
change, emotions, animals, business

Gibbous Moon
from 10 to 13 days after the new moon
patience

Disseminating
3 to 7 days after the full moon
addictions, health, divorce, stress, protection

The three days after the New Moon are the most powerful times to work spells for growth and beginnings which should manifest at the Full Moon. The Black Moon is the most auspicious time for banishing and neutralizing spells. Remember that even though the Moon looks full in the sky for two or three nights, it is only EXACT at the time posted on your calendar. Anything after that time is a waning influence. Do your Full Moon spell before the exact time listed. (The First Quarter is the point between the New Moon and the Full Moon. The Last Quarter is the mid-point between the Full and New Moon.)
