"This place has got a lot to offer to tourists in respect of its tranquil surroundings. Great place I guess to take a load of your mind.Well You get everything over here, pure feni, sorpotel, chourizo and a host of the traditional Goan delicacies

How I like to think of Aldona, looking off toward what What I am going to eat when I get there.

If you are visiting Goa and would like to stay in the countryside set in beautiful surroundings, and within close proximity to the main beaches and attractions of North Goa, then you will have found it here in Aldona. There are villas for your exclusive private use and are in a secure and peaceful location. Facilities are available to manage the daily tasks of your grocery shopping, cooking your meals, cleaning and tidying, laundry, posting your mail and organising your local or international travel and tour arrangements. The Aldona village locals are friendly and hospitable people who will make you feel relaxed and welcomed throughout your stay. Car and motorbike taxis are a convenient method of transport and are very cheap to hire. You will never be stranded if you have not hired your own vehicle. Aldona office has an international fax and telephone service that will keep you in touch with the rest of the world.

Coming from the surrounding TWO major cities PANJIM and MAPUSA. The primary transport is via Bus. There are Goverment(KTC) or Private buses plying through the main routes via Aldona. Once you get down from the bus to an area of interest then either you can hire a 3-wheeler(Rickshaw) or a taxi, but the fastest means to get to a place especially if you are alone is the Motorbike. Charging a nominal rate, you can traverse the area of interest. I have listed the two routes coming from the major cities.
Via Panjim : Direct route via Ecoxim-Pomburpa-Carona from KTC Bus stand Panjim Goa. Distance of approx : 13 Kms by Bus. Via Mapusa : Direct route via Moira-Nachinola-Panarim from KTC Bus Stand, Mapusa, Goa. Distance of Approx : 8 kms by Bus.

Right in the Heart of Aldona is the age old Church of St Thomas, the Patron Saint of Aldona. Since the church is located on a uphill, this makes a fantastic view to see the enchanting mines of Sirigao above the lovely tiny island known as Khorjuem. Other Roman Catholic Churches in the vicinity : St. Alex, Calangute and Our Lady of Miracles, Mapusa. The best way to see around Aldona is by Bus. The buses are available and run across the length and breadth of Aldona and neighbouring areas periodically every 30 mins. Note If one feels lost, he is free to approach the kind and hospitable people around who will aid him to his destination.

The Primary occupation of the people of Aldona is Agriculture. Considering an average rainfall of around 250cms in Goa it is a blessing for the people. As soon as the rains set in you see a lot of people preparing their fields to sow the grain. The crop activities continue until the harvesting season. On some marshy lands, Karif crops like chillies/grain plants are grown. Besides these items also, the local grown vegetables in Aldona are a delight. A lot of vegetables like Dil, Raddish, Squash to name a few. Mostly Bullocks were used to plough the fields before the tractors took over.
Besides this, a lot of fishing activity goes on at the individual level in the ponds to the fishing in the Mandovi River passing in the midst of Aldona. As far as necessaties of hunger are concerned, people are self-sufficient growing crops and selling the surplus as well. It is quite a baclanced market during the seson with the local and outside vegetables and fruits.

Closest place to relax and enjoy is this one. Mayem Lake : Surrounded amidst rolling green hills is an ideal picnic spot at Mayem. The lake has good accommodation facilities on its shores in cottages. Boating is available at the lake and is a favourite with tourists.

I miss my Village a lot thinking of the days I spent over there.
