Reliving this part of history is a lot of fun. It's also a good activity for every member of the family to be involved in.
We even shot footage for a film A&E was making called, "Frontier, Legends of the Old Northwest". This film is about the French and Indian War era, but A&E plans to do another about the Revolutionary War. A&E likes to use reenactors for these films as we give it more authenticity.
Every year we do a living history encampment at the Curwood Festival in Owosso, MI.
Just this August, we participated in a large reenactment on the Georgian Bay in Ontario. This reenactment involved over 850 reenactors from all over Canada and the United States. There were two replicas of period warships involved. These ships fired their guns at shore while we fired back at them. There was also a beach assault reenacted with the infantry coming to shore on longboats. Needless to say, they got a little wet.
We cook all our meals at our encampments. Everybody pitches in setting and breaking camp.
