blurb
I have worked as a Bookshop Sales Assistant, Railway Kiosk Attendant, Restaurant Waiter, Highrise Office Cleaner, English Teacher, Screen Actor (see video & film stills), and as an Astrologer (writing the weekly "Star-Lust" column at the gay & lesbian newspaper, the Sydney Star Observer 2000-01).
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Modern Asian Studies, majoring in Chinese Studies & Anthropology, 1994) and an Honours degree (majoring in Gay & Lesbian Studies, 1997), both from Griffith University. Openly gay, I am currently completing a dissertation in Queer Studies as part of the research Master of Philosophy programme at the University of Queensland.
Of mixed Chinese and European races & ethnicities and with dual Australian & British nationalities, I've resided in several cities (Beijing, Brisbane, Cairns, Gold Coast, Hong Kong, Newcastle & Sydney), and journeyed extensively throughout Australia, East Asia, and the West Coasts of the U.S.A. & Canada.
Alongside travel, my hobbies include esoteric practices (Astrology, Tarot), vegan cooking, Yoga, lap-swimming & walking, drawing (see my Self-Portrait), and cryptic (Times & Guardian) crosswords.
Since 1997, I've hosted, Astroqueer's Stars, a website portal for the global GLBT community about anything & everything with an astrological theme. As an extension of this project, my forthcoming book re-presents the planète-étoiles (other than the heterocentric & ubiquitous Mars & Venus) as queer sexual archetypes.
