Beach

1996

Oil on canvas

48 x 72

I had fun with this one. I used the seated figure from the Morning painting -- turned it into a statue and washed it up on the beach with all the other old goddesses. It is a pinting of how my daughter felt when she was a brand new, tired mother. The beach is from a photo of the Connecticut shore. I'm not the least bit religous or new agey -- but I enjoy the goddess images and was surprised I found so many.

I used Liquin as a meduim for all the rocks and statues. The textures and the subtle colors are wonderful -- but -- if you use Liquin, have plenty of ventilation.
