HOLLYWOOD, Nov. 10, 1999 -- Television actor Ted Danson was honored Nov. 10 with the 2,148th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and cast members old and new came to celebrate.
The ceremony was held in front of the Hollywood Entertainment Museum, which houses the original set of the bar from "Cheers," Danson's long-running hit sitcom, for which he won two Golden Globes and two Emmys. The series ended in 1993, its last episode the second-highest television finale in history.
Former "Cheers" cast members Kirstie Alley, Kelsey Grammer, George Wendt, Rhea Perlman and John Ratzenberger were on hand, as well as stars from Danson's current CBS series, "Becker," where he plays a drinking, smoking doctor. Wife Mary Steenburgen and Wendt participated in the ceremony.
Danson also works with the American Oceans Campaign, which he founded in 1987 to alert people to life-threatening hazards created by oil spills, off-shore development and toxic waste.
