My favorite sport to watch and write about is pro football. The 16 game season makes every game vital, and with the week between games, there's ample time to analyze and debate about the league. I think this season has been especially interesting, with so many teams in the hunt. I'm a fanatic Patriots fan as anyone who knows me could tell you. The Patriots are a stressful team to watch, even though they've been pretty successful lately. It's always a close game when the Pats are involved. It's great to know the Patriots are never out of a game though, with Bledsoe and their receiving corps they can put up a ton of points in a hurry.

My Fantasy Football team, The Fighting Brook Trout, were doing quite well at the beginning of the year. We had a mid-season slump, but are now charging hard towards first place in my division.     I threw my beloved Patriots hat at the TV when I saw Desmond Howard sprinting into the endzone. The next day people at my high school came up to me and asked, " Are you okay?", like my dog had died or something.  Anyway... this is how Super Bowl XXXI should have been.

    When I wrote this things were looking pretty good for the Pats. But now, (11/22/99), they're 6-4, fresh off two division losses, one to the team I hate the most in all of Pro Sports, The Jets. And, the AFC looks pretty damn good right now, especially the East. Can you imagine if Testeverte didn't get hurt? Anyway, here's my optimistic outlook for the Patriots.

    There have been a lot of surprises this year in the league. The Rams rise, the Niners, Falcons, Broncos, and Jets fall... but I think the biggest surprise has been the success of the Detroit Lions. Here's why.
