What's new with the Cradle?

02-04-02

As usual, sorry for the long delay. I've begun updating CLL's Timeline with specific dates during the Sabbat Crusade. Check out Part One, the Beginning of the End.

6-24-01

The onset of Banality & pressures of the outside world have finally caught up to CLL in it's unprecedented sixth year. Most PBEMs barely run for 3-4 months before drying up. CLL, aside from small breaks, ran from August of 1995 until the final gasp (i.e. neither myself nor the players have had time to work on it :) felled the beast in April 2001.

The game began with five players (Fred, JB, Matt, Heather & Joe), all of whom began playing table top White Wolf products. Being AOHell users, it was easy to keep in contact when we weren't together to discuss the game. There was even the rare LARP Chapter, something real unique for a PBEM. Most PBEMs involve people who have never met each other & it can sometimes be hard to talk out of the game when you needed to. I think our close proximity may have strengthened CLL & helped it thrive.

Gradually with time people moved away (myself included), making things a little tougher but for the most part the game continued to grow. New players were added (Jeff & the infamous Satan aka Dan). Two shadow players, unencountered by the regular cast, were introduced to add to the paranoia (more about them later). One of the shadow's brief appearance hastened the eventual Sabbat invasion on New Years. Oh yeah, there was sneaky crap going on all over the place ;)

As I've said before, there was never a set ending for CLL. The characters' decisions ran the game; given time & opportunity we might have finished the story. The game has been a labor of love for me. An odd sort of companion in the midst of sometimes boring routine. Yeah, it was just a stupid game about being undead parasites. I know, get over it. Everything comes to an end & it's time to end the story. But like an old friend, I think CLL deserves a proper goodbye.

The game lasted 5+ years; even this webpage had a decent following from those outside the game who found it interesting enough to follow. I received more requests to join the game in 2001 as it was winding down than in the previous five years!

For the most part, the city's secrets will remain their own. Revealing everything would ruin some of the mystery & horror I've built into this world. Some shadows ought to remain in the dark. Someday I hope to pick up CLL again as a table top game, picking up where the timeline leaves off.  I intend to move forward & detail what happened following the New Year's Crusade.  Therefore, I present the following: a timeline detailing the events that forever changed the City of Brotherly Love & it's supernatural inhabitants.

Until then, it's been a great ride.

Later,

Me

More updates for A Children's Crusade & also working on a new Clan History. After that maybe I'll finally finish the Sabbat history that was supposed to be up during the summer LOL

10-30-00

Happy Halloween everybody! I've added some more info regarding my table top Dark Ages game, A Children's Crusade.

10-14-00

Way too long between updates. I'm working on more info for the page as the game prepares to wrap up. August marked CLL's fifth year & things couldn't be better. In Chapter Twelve we find that the Sabbat have launched an attack during a New Year's Eve blizzard. Prince Lucien is missing, believed destroyed. The Camarilla appear to making their own bid for power in the midst of the chaos. Only the PCs can save the night or damn the city eternally. Ohhh, melodramatic ;)

Also, I've received several inquiries from people wanting to join the game. Unfortunately I'm not accepting new players. However, if you are interested in joining my other PBEM (currently in it's 2nd year), please drop me a line Bolthra@kua.net It is a WOD game set in New Orleans. I have a need for Garou players, so please let me know if you're interested.

4-11-2000

Jumped on the bandwagon & decided to have an online poll on the page. Vote when you get a chance.

3-21-2000

Damn, it's been a long time between updates! Well, Chapter Eleven is finally in the books. Experience points for Chapter Eleven will be posted on the Players page Check out the Recent Events page for the current action (atlas the stuff that everyone knows about) While this information is very general, players will receive an email regarding their specific situation (or plight depending on how Chapter Eleven went for you ;)

Next up, I've moved Petter to a new Artwork page, so you'll have to go there to check out his smiling visage from now on. The move was mostly to increase the loading speed of the opening page. Hopefully he will joined by other denizens of Philadelphia in the near future.

Just for laughs, I've posted an advertisement for the game's resident rockers, Bolthra, regarding their first album, the Fall of Kings. It's nothing fancy, but fans of Sean Patrick may want it as a collector's item ;)

12-13-99

Finally updated the Garou page, although eventually I'd like to do more with it.

12-7-99

I'm very excited about the latest changes to the page. First off, it will be undergoing a bit of a facelift in the coming weeks but the basic order of the page will stay the same.

Next, I've always wanted to add some original art to the page. After debating on how to do this & realizing I have no talent beyond stick figures, I knew I had to go look elsewhere.

As the Internet goes, I followed a link or three, finally coming to a page of work by Heather Caulberg. I liked what I saw & innocently wrote a letter explaining what I was interested in. Not only did she not laugh (although I can't be sure since we did talk thru email), but she agreed to give it a try. Couple of weeks later I had my first picture, one of good ole' Petr (which is found on the first page).

Take a look at her work. It's very cool:

When I have time (& money of course) I plan to get more done. For CLL players, if you're interested in having a small picture of your character done, let me know.

Lastly, I've set a new section called Semi-Original Fiction to organize the various short stories & over glorified paragraphs I've done in the last few years. The newest addition is for NOBN called As Low As We Can Get. Take a look & let me know what you think.

Sorry for the delay in updates. The onset of Banality has crushed me in it's wake & I've just managed to resurface. Now, on with the show..

We're now in Chapter Eleven as CLL enters it's fifth year. Although it's still 1996 in game terms, eventually we'll make our way to at least 1999 ;). I've now set up a PCs page to keep track of experience points earned (starting with Chapter Ten), as well as a brief description of the player. The description is something I'll allow the players to write for themselves if you wish & isn't mandatory. It just seems the obligatory Vampire game page thing to do & like a lemming I've jumped in line. :)

Contact me if you're interested in posting a description of your character.

Dirt lives again! Err, well, he's still kicking around :) I've started posting the continuation of his adventures courtesy of Haren Magus & his Wraith PbEM. Look for regular updates in the future.

8-29-99

Malkavian & I are teaming for a brand new PbEM set in New Orleans. While still in the same universe (to use a term from my days of running Champions) as CLL, it's set in 1999 & encompasses all the changes of the Year of the Reckoning. Check out the prelim page.

New Orleans By Night

8-21-99

I'm proud to announce that CLL has won the Players Webring Site of the Month award, joining Malkavian's page as a fellow winner. Let's hope it's the first of many more.

8-5-99

A new Links page has been set up.

7-31-99

A Giovanni clan page is now, take a look. In other news, Dirt will heading off into a new adventure (i.e. I'm using him in a PbEM), so as time permits,.I'll post info here. Work somehow continues on the Sabbat history beneath the crushing weight of Banality.

7-17-99

In a way it's off topic, but who gives a rat's ass? (Do you have one to give, though)

Check out "Death Gets A Boob Job", original fiction by the nearly infamous Karma. It's sick, disturbing & might keep you up at night. Just the effect she was hoping for :) Take a look then drop her a line to let her know what you think.

7-8-99

Updating the Character Index to include the newest characters met. Also added a page detailing the events of the Giovanni meeting in Atlantic City

6-30-99

Another small update to Dirt.

6-15-99

Posted a small update for Dirt  with a brand new page coming soon. Dirt's carefree days will soon be a thing of the past :(
