What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient Indian body of knowledge. It's origins are unknown, but it is one of the six classic Indian arts and deals with the way to acheive personal enlightenment. The yoga that is explored here is called hatha yoga; which is the study of physical discipline throught the practice of learned techniques involoving asanas, or poses, and breathing. Hatha yoga is only one of a number of yogic disciplinges taught in India. While it has its roots in the religious and mystical, it can be studied without religious overtones and many people approach it from the physical rather than the spiritual angle. Yoga is not just a meditative technique or a way of relaxation, it is actually a way of life. Many people do it to stay fit, however all of the positions help to stimulate different parts of the body, so it is actually supposed to have some homopathic qualities. Yoga is not a religion, so anyone can do it. It promotes both physical and mental health.Yoga is a great form of exercise because it stretches every part of the body, is less tiring than other exercises, is noncompetitive, and strengthens your body. It can improve your complexion, your posture, and your bendability, and teaches you to breathe properly.

Aiden tells Gabrielle to reach down for her inner stillness. In yoga, all is still and serene. However, as Gabrielle learns, we can not stop moving completely without sacraficing ourselves. So the idea is to create a balance between our inner stillness and the outside world.
