Botwood is a short drive from many lovely rivers, lakes and ponds.  In the interior of the province with a beautiful coastline to the north, east and west.  The clear waters are a fishing paradise, the unspoiled wilderness is the naturalists dream.  Boat tours on the Bay of Exploits allow visitors to explore islands, coves, beaches and historical out port communities.

The harbor is Ideal for sailing, sea-dooing, sea kayaking, canoeing and pleasure boat tours.  The harbor boasts an international shipping trade, bringing in vessels from all across the world.




Botwood Seaport Festival  is held the first weekend each August and is attended from far and wide across the Central Newfoundland region. Includes, parades, games of chance, booths with traditional foods and local cuisine.  Music both day and night as well as a fireworks display and dance.


The Annual Truckers Rodeo is held each labour day weekend in September, with truckers competing in various skilled driving tests and with a Teddy Bear Parade to help local Children's Charities.


Swimming is available at the Botwood Community pool as well as at Botwood Municipal Park.  There are several full scale playgrounds in Botwood to entertain young and old alike. 
Also available are Ice Hockey, Broom ball, Curling, Figure Skating, Ball  Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Horse Back Riding and Tennis.


Big Game Hunting and Fishing for salmon and trout as well as deep sea fishing are a Sportsman's dream.  Depending on the time of year you may also see magnificent icebergs, wales and seals that populate the area.
