Some bears of Western Canada exhibit a curiosity and aggressiveness that is lacking in bears whose home range is closer to populated areas.
Bluff charges, snapping jaws and even raking or climbing the tree that you are in, are all actions to be expected from western Canadian bears.


1st bow bear

This bear chased another bear up a tree and then proceeded to circle my stand. It was the seventh bear that I saw and had all the appearances of a "good" bear.
The end result was that this bear was only about half as big as I thought it was. Regardless, it was an exciting and satisfying hunt that resulted in me taking my first bow-bear.

We were to rendezvous with the rest of the guys from camp at this spot to embark on a fishing expedition.
This bear totally ignored our presence and took the opportunity to inspect our truck and boat for something good to eat.
