NORMAL PEOPLE

An executive from Mattel decided to spend some time in a normal world. He spent 5 days on a bench outside the C-train platform. It was there he made a shocking discovery. He hurried to tell the CEO. 97% of normal people do not look like Barbie. 96% of normal people do not fly around in Fairytopia. The CEO was understandably shocked but the executive had more shocking news. I observed some road construction and its the people who operate the heavy equipment who talk. The machines themselves don' t actually talk. The backhoe, the Bobcat and the steamroller don't actually talk. Then the executive suggested they make normal people dolls. The CEO was reluctant but agreed.

     The first normal person doll was Bob the business man. He comes with 2 suits, 3 white shirts, 3 ties, a briefcase which opens so you can put papers inside. He has a cell phone which rings every so often. Now you can pretend you are conducting very important business on the cell phone.

     Next we have Sarah the construction worker, she comes with a hard hat, overalls, steel toe boots, a backhoe, bobcat, and steamroller. Also a pick and shovel. Everything a kid needs for some serious construction work.

     Next is a grey haired lady and a bald man. Grandma and Grandpa dolls. To-day Grandma takes the C-train to buy some wool to knit a sweater for Sarah the contraction worker. You will go to Susie's craft shop. Susie has lots of crafts. Perhaps you can buy some glitter paint and make a picture for Grandma. Won't she be surprised.

This led to all sorts of normal dolls. There was Terry the letter carrier. He came with a Canada post uniform, a letter bag a postal truck and a mail box.

Peter the paramedic with an ambulance, a blood pressure monitor and all kinds of things you need to save lives.

  One day Terry the letter carrier was delivering the mail. He found Grandma had fallen and could not get up . He call Pete the paramedic. He took Grandma to the hospital. Terry the letter carrier brought Grandma all kinds of cards. One was from Sarah the construction worker. Get well soon Grandma it said. Soon Grandma woke up and asked for some wool to knit a sweater for Pete the paramedic. Everyone laughed , they were happy Grandma was well again.

Well Mattel made more and more normal people and kids had more and more normal adventures and well things were normal.
