Welcome to my Great Big Sea page!! I was first introduced to the b'ys in 1995 when their
second album "Up" was released. Since then I have become a member of the Great Big Cult
and The Friends of Great Big Sea
The B'ys
The members of Great Big Sea are:
Alan Doyle (vocals, guitar, bouzouki, mandolin)
Sean McCann (vocals, bodhran, tin whistle, snare drum, acoustic guitar)
Darrell Power (vocals, bass, bones, harmonica)
Bob Hallett (vocals, button accordion, tin whistle, fiddle, mandolin, mandola, concertina
The b'ys were born and raised in Newfoundland. They grew up listening to the traditional music
that they play. They met at university where they were all studying English. After getting
their degrees, the band was formed, and named after a traditional Newfoundland song; Great Big Sea.
The Music
Great Big Sea have released four albums. Their debut self-titled album was released in 1993,
followed by Up in 1995, and Play in 1997. In 1998 Great Big Sea released Rant and Roar. It was
aimed at an American audience and combined the best songs from Up and Play. Their music is a combination
