Busta-Boost Controller

B-bc.jpg (26661 bytes)

Here is a description of the boost controller that I have made.  All of the parts used in the construction of the b-bc are off the shelf and only one of which was slightly modified.

I have been using the b-bc since the beginning of January 2000 and have not had to adjust the boost even with the varying temperatures.  It is set to 16 PSI and I also have a solenoid in the loop that is enabled when a switch is turned on from inside of the cabin.  When the switch is on boost pressure is routed to a second Busta-bc which is set to 18 PSI of boost.

I have researched the Hallman type of boost controller and Joe P.'s.  The b-bc uses two balls and a spring to regulate the amount of air pressure that the wastegate sees.  The adjustment screw presses against the second steel ball and in between the two balls is the spring.  The adjustment screw screws into a cap that has been tapped to accept the screw.  The silver nut is there to lock the adjustment screw into place after the b-bc has been set to the appropriate boost level.

The b-bc is shipped at the stock boost setting meaning that it is letting air through the nipples.  To make adjustments to the b-bc you must screw the lock nut up to  the top of the adjustment screw and then turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the boost or counter-clockwise to decrease the boost.  Once the desired boost level is set, turn the lock nut down to keep the adjustment screw from turning.

I have tried to use a bleeder valve, but the turbo would reach full boost at around 3500 RPMs and would not hold 16 PSI right up to redline.  I also found that with the bleeder I had to adjust it every time the temperature changed a few degrees.

The b-bc is a very cost effective and stable boost controller.  I get full boost at around 3000 RPMs and it holds steady right up to redline.  Also as I said before, I have had it in my car since January 2000 and have not had to change the setting on the b-bc ever since.

The b-bc kit sells for $40.00 Canadian funds including shipping.  The kit includes the b-bc, instructions, vacuum lines, and zip-ties.

For those of you who are interested in purchasing the b-bc kit, or if you have any further questions about the b-bc  please forward your replies and inquiries to .  For the b-bc installation instructions click here.

Important Note:  Increasing the boost levels past the stock boost settings on your vehicle may be potentially dangerous and is done at  your own risk!  It has been performed on my car with success.  I can not be held accountable for any damage done to your vehicle while using the b-bc to up the boost.  Please respect the limits of your vehicle.
