  • West Enjoys Banquet Honoring Record Season

  • The Conference championship season was celebrated yesterday at the Plumsteadville Inn with a Brunch Buffet.  A good time was had by all, as both JV and Varsity had great seasons.  Jeff was his usual self, expounding on the season's hurdles and how the team overcame them.  He spoke of how the team came together and became men.  The Letters and awards were given out (see awards page)and next year's captains were named.(Booth, Wilson, and Roman).  The seniors (I call them the "J-Team") were given a tribute and sent on their lifes journey.  It was a great season for the team and especially for the seniors, you guys led this team to one of the best seasons in West history, you will be missed.  Good luck in your future plans.

  • West Misses Opportunity to make State Tournament

  • Well, it all fell apart Tuesday, in the Semi-final Match vs. Christopher Dock, as West fell 0-3.  The first game looked like it was going to be close, with a lot of side-outs, but Dock kept plugging away and came away with a 15-6 victory.  Games 2 was pretty much the same thing as West fell 4-15.  The third game was closer, but West could not pull off the victory, falling 11-15.  Next up is the Banquet, to be held at the Plumsteadville Inn on Sunday June 8th.

(05/16/03)
  • West Wins Quarterfinals

  • Well, it was a different format (Best of five) but the team came through with flying colors in winning the quarterfinals over Haverford 3-0.  The first game looked like it was going to be close, with a lot of side-outs, but West kept plugging away and came away with a 15-5 victory.  Games 2 & 3 were pretty similiar with West dominating with their blocking and serving.  The scores of the last two games were 15-9 and 15-3.  The semi-final match will be on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Norristown HS (Directions)vs. Christopher Dock  Note: This will probably be a Pay event!

  • JV Wins District Tournament

  • It was a long, tough, gruelling day, with many close matches, but it was all worth it in the end.  The JV team did what the Varsity could not accomplish this season, win a tournament, defeating North Penn 2-1.  They split with Souderton and beat Council Rock South, Quakertown, and Truman 2-0 to finish Pool play 7-1.   They struggled in defeating Truman in the Quarter-finals, and handled Souderton A in the semi-finals.  The final was a tough, close Match against North Penn, which West won 16-14, 11-15, 16-14 after coming from behind in both wins.  Congradulation Guys!!   Mike Rose was named the Tournament MVP and Andrew Huynh named to the All-Tournament Team.  The next action will be the Varsity at Home Thursday evening at 7:00 PM in the District Quarter-finals.

  • West Knocks off East

  • It was a pretty typical exciting East/West match, lots of momentum switches, and some close scores, but West managed to outlast East 2-0.  West went up early in the first game before East made their run to bring it close at 11-8, but West turned up the fire a little and went on to win 15-8.  The second game was tough early game battle as East pulled out to a 5-3 lead before West made a run to capture the lead.  East would battle more and it was a tight game the rest of the way, with West outlasting East 15-11.  The JV team played a little shorthanded as they only had 6 players available, but still managed to pull out a 2-0 match win vs. East.  The next Match is Tuesday at Home vs. Neshaminy who will probably be out for blood after losing in their last meeting(6:15 / 7:30 PM)

  • First Tournament is an Up/Down affair

  • With the morning pool record at 4-2 everything looked rosy for the Bucks at the Hempfield Tournament.    The team struggled in the afternoon Pool going just 1-5 and did not qualify for the Playoff round.    A couple of the losses could have very easily been victories with some more consistant play.   Bottom line is, they got in the extended playing time needed for a team to Jell together.   Lets see how that helps with the next match Tuesday 3/26 at Council Rock HS 6:15 / 7:30 PM    Directions can be found in the link(Driving Directions) on the left hand menu, or here (Directions) .    Come out and support the team.

(3/25/02)
  • First League Match is a Win

  • While West played Rock tough in their early season Match, it was apparent Council Rock's defense improved drastically in West's loss Tuesday 5-15,7-15.    West played pretty well in both games(Few serving errors and few hitting errors), but the Talent and size of CR was the deciding factor in the match.    The Loss takes West's record to 7-3    Dave Schmoyer had 6 kills/8 digs, Jon Williams had 5 Kills to lead the team.    The next league match is Thursday home against Abington @ 6:15 / 7:30 PM.

(4/9/01)
  • West Comes up Big at Lake Lehman Tournament

  • West was not supposed to do much on Saturday at the Lake lehman Tournament, but they came up big by first going 7-2 in Pool play and then by beating perenial power house and host Lake Lehman in the Quarter-Finals 15-6.    It is not nice to knock the host team out of the their own tournament, but sombody has to do it.   West then went on to lose to State powerhouse Hempfield, which by the way also knocked them out in the semi-finals last year.    Nice work guys!!    Dave Schmoyer was named to the All-Tournament Team as a Defensive specialist.    The next league match is Monday at Pennsbury(Directions) @ 6:15 / 7:30 PM.

  • West Puts up Good Fight Against Council Rock

  • Underdog CB West gave the much taller Council Rock all it could handle Tuesday night, but came away without a victory 10-15,15-17.   West was behind the whole first game, but worked their way back into the game to tie it at 10-10, with the highlight being Scott Terry's stuff block of the 6'-5" college bound Ken Steadman.   CR then went on to score the next five points to win the game.   The second game was more of the same with West falling behind and then catching up, again another block of Steadman by Matt Wurtenberger, helped the Bucks go ahead at one point by a 15-14 score.   A CR timeout tipped the scales and Council rock scored the next 3 points to win 17-15.   Dave Schmoyer led the team with 11 kills.   It was a great match and a great performance by a team that was not supposed to come close to Council Rock.   Nice work guys!  The next match is Thursday at Abington(Directions) @ 3:45 PM

  • Boys Volleyball tryouts are under way

  • Well, another season of boys Volleyball is underway. Tryouts started Tuesday 3/6 after being delayed by the "Clear road Day Off". This season should be interesting as the team tries to retool after losing 5 of last season's six starters. The team should be OK though, since there are a lot of experienced players coming out for the team and they did well during the Club season. Good luck everyone during the tryouts.

  • West Wins Magical Tournament

  • West started the Quakertown Invitational Tournament the way they start every Tournament -- Asleep. West struggled but managed two wins against a very young Souderton team(15-13,16-14). The team then took care of business for the rest of Pool Play, except for a stinker against Easton, to go 7-1 on the day. West then entered the playoff rounds, where in the past they seem to be able to pick it up a notch, and Saturday was no different.(Please note - all games start at 4-4). The first victim in the Quaterfinals was Lower Merion, where two quick games ended 15-5,15-5. Next up was a Tough & Tall Council Rock team who had just ended a very good Bensalem's day. Council Rock fell to the Bucks 15-4,15-6. In the finals was a team(Exeter) which had beaten West the week before very easily at the Lake Lehman Tournament. With revenge on their minds West started the 3 game match with a dud losing 15-6. It looked like it was all over as West was making bad passes and lack of communication between players left the ball hitting the floor with regularity. However, as West has done in the past, they pulled together, got fired up, and got into their Finals form by defeating Exeter 15-4,15-9 to win the Tournament. The next scheduled match is on Tuesday May 2 at Home against Abington 6:15/7:30 PM.

(4/28/00)

The third game was more of the same as West came out losing 1-9 before coming back to 12-14. West could not pull off the comeback again as Besalem pulled out the third game 15-12. Kenny Eiser had 19 kills/8 blocks and Evan Chalk had 10 digs to lead the team. The next scheduled match is on Tuesday May 2 at Home against Abington 6:15/7:30 PM.

Jason Jones had 10 kills, Dan Schmoyer had 9 kills/8 digs, and Kenny Eiser had 8 digs/2 blocks to lead the team.
