In the 18 years that the State of California has been supposedly eradicating individual infestations of Medfly - The State has refused to allow an independent forum for Scientists and Doctors to express their concerns on Medfly and the HEALTH dangers of Urban Aerial Spraying of Malathion.  

Contrary to the self-serving scare tactics of Calif. Dept. of Food and Agriculture. and USDA - the propaganda your tax dollars fund - there is another view. This site is to air that view.

A Legislative Briefing was held in Monterey Park, Calif. at The Monterey Park City Council Chambers. A video and transcript was made of the proceedings. A panel of experts in the field of  medicine, entomology, economics and law met at the invitation of the former Mayor and current Mayor of Monterey Park. This event was attended by elected and appointed officials and other invited guests.

This site exists because Malathion is a dangerous neurotoxin, the purpose of which is to kill living things. It is illegal to spray Malathion over populated areas, it was never intended for this use. The State must get an "Emergency Exemption" from the Federal law in order to do so. The EPA grants the State this Emergency Exemption" under 2 conditions: (1) The Medfly is not an established pest and continues to be reintroduced into California and must be eradicated. (2) There is no compelling evidence of damage to people's health or the environment.   This exemption is granted only as a last resort and an ongoing requirement of this exemption is that any adverse health effects that result from the use of Malathion must be reported to EPA.

The State continues to declare the Medfly eradicated and "re-introduced" in order to use Malathion in urban areas. The Calif. Dept. of   Food and Ag. says they use Malathion as a "last resort" - yet, there is a refusal to fund or implement biological controls, CDFA will not use "control methods" when their stated goal is "eradication.' CDFA has refused for 18+ years to fund research that would scientifically prove if the Medfly was as established low density population never eradicated. There is also concern among scientific experts that the reliance on Malathion for eradication is evolving the Medfly into a chemically resistant urban strain of Medfly.

For 18+ years the State of California has declared a so-called "state of emergency" on its citizens blanketing millions with the neurotoxin Malathion. For 18+ years The State of California has minimized and down-played any health risks associated with Malathion. Doctors were sent letters from the State Dept. of Health assuring them that past urban aerial spray programs have shown health effects to be minimal or negligible. Doctors are not given adequate information in order to diagnose Malathion related illness. Doctors don't know one of the conditions under which the exemption is granted to the urban aerial spraying program  is the requirement of reporting suspected Malathion related illness or effects to EPA.  Without a doctors report the effects - no matter how severe - are considered "anecdotal" - not worthy of investigation. The public doesn't know in order for a complaint of Malathion related illness to carry weight it must be made by a doctor's diagnosis - a doctor continually assured by the State that there are "no significant effects and risk to the public is minimal from MALATHION"

For 18+ years the State has been able to minimize resistance by targeting, isolating and indoctrinating communities. Until now, the independent scientific community has not been given a public forum to present the case in apposition to the State.
