FINISHED SIZE: Approx 4 1/4" tall (including halo)

MATERIALS


Bedspread-weight crochet thread.- 30 yds white
Size 7 steel crochet hook (or size required for gauge)

GAUGE: In shell stitch (each shell = 2 trc, ch 2, 2 trc), 2 shells = 1"; 4 rows= 1 1/2"

INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 16 (for head), join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 24 sc in ring, join with a sl st in beg sc.
Rnd 2: Do not turn; ch 26 (for halo), sk next 14 sc, sl st in next sc, then sl st in each of next 4 sc; ch 4, work 2 trc in same st (st where last sl st was just worked); ch 2, work 3 trc in next sc (leave rem 3 sc unworked). DO NOT finish off, continue with dress by working back and forth in rows as follows:
Row 3: Ch 4, turn; sk next 2 trc, work (2 trc, ch 2,2 trc, ch 2, 2 trc) in next ch-2 sp; sk next 2 trc, trc in top of ch-4 = two ch-2sps.
Row 4: Ch 4, turn; * work (2 trc, ch 2,2 trc) in next ch-2 sp (shell made); rep from * once more, trc in top of ch-4 at end of row = 2 shells.
Row 5: Ch 4, turn; work (2 trc, ch 2, 2 trc, ch 2, 2 trc) in sp of each shell across, trc in top of ch-4 at end of row = four ch-2 sps.
Row 6: Ch 4, turn; work (2 trc, ch 2,2 trc) in each ch-2 sp across, trc in top of ch-4 at end of row = 4 shells.
Row 7: Rep Row 5 = eight ch-2 sps.
Row 8: Rep Row 6 = 8 shells.
Row 9: Ch 4, turn; work a shell in sp of each shell across, trc in top of ch-4 at end of row.
Row 10: Ch 4, turn; work (2 trc, ch 2, sc, ch 2, 2 trc) in sp of each shell across, trc in top of ch-4 at end of row.

DO NOT finish off, continue with edging up side edge of dress and then work one wing as follows:
Side Edging and Wing:
Row 1: Ch 1, do not turn; work 3 sc in each of first 7 rows up side edge of dress, sl st in next row (2nd row down from head); ch 6, work 4 trc with ch 2 between each trc in same sp (leave last row unworked). Continue with wing as follows:

Row 2: Ch 6, turn; trc in first sp, * ch 2, work (trc, ch 2, trc) in next sp; rep from * once more, ch 2, trc in next sp; ch 2, trc in 4th ch of ch-6.

Row 3: Ch 6, turn; trc in first sp, * ch 2, work (trc, ch 2, trc) in next sp; ch 2, trc in next sp; rep from * once more, ch 2, work (trc, ch 2, trc) in next sp; ch 2, trc in last sp (sp under turning ch); ch 2, trc in 4th ch of ch-6. Row 4: Ch 6, turn; trc in first sp, * ch 2, trc in ne)ct sp; rep from * 8 times more, ch 2, trc in last sp, ch 2, trc in 4th ch of ch-6. Finish off.

Other Side Edging and Wing: Hold angel with other side edge of dress across top and with head to your right, join thread with a sl st in 2nd row down from head, ch 1, work 3 sc in each of next 7 rows down side edge of dress, sl st in next trc at bottom edge. Finish off, then work wing as follows:
Hold angel with side edging of dress just worked across top and with head to your left, join thread with a sl st in 2nd row down from head.
Row 1: Ch 6, work 4 trc with ch 2 between each trc in same sp as joining. Rows 2 through 4: Work same as for first wing. Finish off and weave in all ends.

FINISHING - starch and block angel out to size.
