"He who would sacrifice nothing, loses all." - Daidoji Uji, from the Uji no Shiryo card from the Dark Allies expansion.

"I wood sooner face a weakened foe than one at full strength. Its not a matter of honor, merely one of pragmatism. The Crane's armies are outnumbered by those of our enemies. Every Crane soldier whose life is spared by Daidoji tactics is one more to face the next foe." - Doji Kurohito, Champion of the Crane

MAY 2003 (PART 2 UPDATED AT END ON 6/25!!)

Wow, its been awhile since my last update. I apologize for that. I've been working on a new site for my team, Team R*U*N, but I just handed over those rights to another team member so I can get back down to this site. After all, its Kotei season and I have alot to write about. First of all, let me express to you how deeply saddend I am to see Rekai selected to Daigatsu's court. SHE IS MY DAIMYO! How the hell could a Daidoji Daimyo just join the enemy like that?? Storyline it doesn't make much sense to me and I'm trying to put together the peices of what to do now. While I dwell on that, let me tell you about Kotei events. First Kotei: Region 5, Lincoln, Nebraska. Feeling that my Daidoji deck isn't up to Kotei standards, I decided to play an honor rocket (I apologized to most of my opponents at the Kotei for this). It started by waiting for Doji Yoshi to show, he was driving up from New Mexico and was running a good 2 hours late due to traffic and T-Rex (the unaligned abomination of highway engineering) He did, however, gave me a Daidoji Uji exp2 for my trouble and I thought that was encredibly kick-ass of him. We then embark to the land of corn. On our way we almost got stopped (and sent home bowed) by a Torrential Rain. The wind and downpoor was a bitch to drive in be we endured. We arrive in Lincon around 3am Central time. Play a few games and hit the sack around 5. We arise in time for registration which was at 11, and away we go. First Round: I get paired up against Shadowlands. He makes a mistake by attacking me with one follower-loaded Voltagi when I have Hachi with the Golden Obi, I bow Voltagi and he never really recovered. I apologize for playing an Honor Cheese Deck... 1-0. Next I played Jamie. Jamie is a player I met up in Seattle who is blind and still, quite an amazing Dragon Dueler. This game was close and all came down to a Deeds, not Words. He played Deeds, I attacked with a Rekai with the sword, he Countered, I Iai Dueled with a Yasuyo and went up to 40 thanks to the +1 from the Deeds. I apologize for playing an Honor Cheese Deck... 2-0. Third round, up against Lion Tactiton. He piled up a unit and attacked me. I had one measily Kimita out who valiantly overwhelmed the oposition. I kept him pretty much at bay from there. I apologize for playing an Honor Cheese Deck... 3-0. Fourth round, I am across the table from a Corrupt Scorpion. I figure, I play against Scorpion all the time, I'm prepared for this one! What I am not prepared for is my own deck crapping on me. I see one peep all game and eventually get overrun. No need to apologize here... 3-1. Fifth round, Unicorn Honor Runner. This was an insanely close game that all came down to a Wind's Truth at the end. I apologize for playing an Honor Cheese Deck... 4-1. Fifth round, Pheonix Honor. He sits down and tells me he's been looking forward to testing his deck out against a Crane, to see if it can keep up. His deck was pretty good, but I was around 30-somthing when he was hitting the teens. I apologize for playing an Honor Cheese Deck... 5-1. I make it to the top 16. There are two Crane in the top 16, and guess what! We play eachother. Top 16, Honor Crane. He goes first, he won. Thats all there is to it. It was honestly that close. As it turns out, Tainted Scorpion won the day, electing Moto Chen to the Imperial Court.

Part Two: No sleep till Kotei...
Its alittle late, but better late than never. Team R*U*N went down to the region 3 Kotei in Arizona and did all in all pretty good. First off, Arizona isn't exactly right around the corner, it was about a 13ish hour drive from Denver, but we did things proper and stole Togashi Asai's car to do the trip with. In the car, it was myself, Bayushi Danzen (driving), Vampire Dragon and Akodo Kusamoto. On the way to and from Pheonix we were flanked by both lizards and elk, but that is neither here nor there. Anyways, we arive in Pheonix and hook up with fellow Team R*U*Ners Oni no Fossum and Bayushi Muchitsujo and hit a local bar the night before. This is typical for Team R*U*N. The next day, the day of the event, we had our omen. Driving up to the Kotei, a fast food wrapper blew up and attached itself to our hood orniment. This was pretty funny in its own right as we watched it flap in the wind, but when we were stopped by a stoplight, the wind caught it just right to open the wrapper up, displaying prominently to the car's occupants two, bold lettered words: ULTIMATE CHEESE. It was our omen, our prophicy. Ultimate Cheese will show its ugly head at this kotei. The only question was whose cheese would it be... First round. A local Arizona player. I'm paired up against a Unicorn Honor runner who basically had me... except if your at 39 honor, you should gain honor first and get the favor second. He got the favor, I deeds, and swept the victory out from under him. 1-0. Second round: Shadowlands nastiness from San Deigo. This game was just ugly on my part. I couldn't get anything going and he stomped my ass into oblivion. 1-1. Third round... for the life of me I can't remember, I am sorry, but its been awhile, damn, anyways, I do know I won that one. 2-1. Fourth round: Shadowlands Dueling uber-sickness from San Deigo. While I did get things going, Kyufu kept me locked down with is 8 fear and private dojo. It wasn't pretty. 2-2. Fifth round: Scorpion Dishonor. Oh my god. I had to have gained well over 100 honor to win this game. I kept going up honor like a madman and he'd hit me with a 20-something honor loss. In the end I pulled through but it was an insane game. 3-2. Last Round: Dragon Honor/Dishonor. Getting the feeling that I'm out of contention. This guy plays his deck very well, trails me with honor and hits me with dishonor when it counts. I end up 3-3.
