You have arrived at the Mountain's Shadow Dojo. Home of the Daidoji Harriers. Here you will be trained in the methods of the enemies of the Crane to learn from thier strengths and know thier weaknesses. Your sensei will be Daidoji Maseru. If any of you would like to contribute to these teachings, please feel free to email.

The following is compiled from my own experiances, and reflect the people I have played and known. There is no 100% accurate way to play L5R and it is usually best to play what you know in the style that best suits you. This is dirrected with my style of play.

First up would be the Scorpion clan. Currently, Towers of the Yogo is the Stronghold of choice for most Scorpion players. Key cards are Inner Fire and Street to Street. And with the bulk of the Scorpion personalities being at a "-" honor requirement, most Scorpions are alright with using underhanded techniques such as Kolat Assassin, Kolat Master and Poisoned Weapon to maintain a personality advantage. That is the key to stopping them, keeping a personality advantage. Arrows from the woods helps with this as you can use it when a personality is bowed. Another good card is Elite Spearmen because they have a decent ranged attack that doesn't require attachment to use. Another thing to remember about these Scorpion tactics is if they drop the Street to Street, you can still attach your followers to bowed personalities as Street to Street is not your action (so your own action is not targeting your bowed cards). If you maintain personality advantage you can usually edge out the victory. If you are a dueler, be careful. Kwanchai's ability to jump in the way of a duel makes him ideal to carry the sword. Best option is to remain patient. Against dishonor is a whole other can of worms. Kaukatsu and Tjeki are extremly potent in a dishonor deck, even more so when In Time of War has hit the table, so it is best to at least pack minimal personality-kill.

Second will be the Lions. First and formost, Dueling a Lion deck is usually trouble. The tactition decks that are popular now pack an average focus of 3 or more (I've seen Lions who pack thier deck with almost anything with a 4 focus value, even if its not imediatly useful), something to tip you off if this is true is Gambling House. If a Lion is running Charges and Strength of Puritys, chances are they will not be running Gambling House. Once again, Arrows From the Woods is one of my favorite cards in this situation, most of the tactitions that fill a Lion deck will be 2F or less. And with In Search of the Future most tactition decks fall quickly. The Lion Honor Runner is roughly just bringing personalities for full. Most of the time thier gold structure doesn't support PPGs or Sancs or Kabukis.
